I'm loving them so far

I make my dogs own food and these are perfect size when I freeze her food for her. They pop out easily as well The tops are silicone as well, so you just have to make sure it's on there. Which doesn't impact anything other than taking an extra 2 seconds.

Excellent For Food Meal Prep

I have never used silicone baking “dishes” before, so maybe this is normal, but when I baked corn bread I had to bake it longer than called for to get it fully cooked. My family wanted chili for dinner the next day and I wanted to make corn bread to go with it, but I had a doctor’s appointment that afternoon that would make the timing difficult. So I made the corn bread batter the day before, poured it into the Silicone Freezer Tray, snapped on the lid, and put it in the fridge. The next afternoon when I got home I removed the lid, set the tray on a baking sheet, and slid it into the oven. The recipe calls for 20 minutes; in my metal 8x8 pan I usually need 25. At 25 minutes the dough was still very wet in the middle, so I added another 5. After 30 minutes total it looked nice and the 3 cells on each end were fully cooked (see the picture), but the 6 middle cells were still wet when I ran a knife around the edges.I took the bread out of the end cells and put the tray back in. It took a total of 42 minutes before everything was done. My first thought was that this was a failure. However, the corn bread was excellent. Where a regularly baked square corn bread has cut pieces that lose crumbs, these were perfectly shaped on the edges and the right size for serving. The general consensus from my family was that this is the preferred method for corn bread from now on and the meal was great — so I guess the method is worth the hassle.I’ve used it twice now — cupboard to fridge to oven to dishwasher — and it’s still flexible, looks brand-new, and cleans up with just a sponge or a dishwasher cycle; even baked-on bits come right off. I can’t wait to try it for what I actually bought it for: freezing leftovers when we make chicken soup. I will be purchasing at least one more. Now I really want to try my low carb - gluten free chocolate cake recipe as each cell would be the perfect size for individual cakes.(BTW: Each cell holds 1/2 cup. I put 1/3 cup of dough and it rose to overflow the cells, as you can see in the picture, so be aware.)

Perfect for my homemade soup base system!

I've been using these to revolutionize how I make soup, and honestly, it's changed my weeknight dinners. I cook up a big batch of vegetables in broth, pour it into these trays, freeze them, and then I have instant soup starter cubes whenever I want a fresh bowl of chicken noodle or rice soup. Pop one cube in a pot, add some fresh chicken and noodles, and I've got homemade soup in 15 minutes instead of an hour. The lid is great, no more plastic wrap, no freezer burn, and I can stack multiple trays without worrying about spills or weird freezer smells getting into my food. The cubes pop out SO easily compared to my old plastic trays. Just a gentle push from the bottom and they release without any fighting or cracking.I also love how functional they are, they go from freezer straight to microwave or oven for when I want to make mini meatloaves or little square muffins. The size is perfect for so many different things. They're incredibly easy to clean (just a quick rinse), and I feel good about not using disposable plastic bags or containers anymore. The silicone seems really durable. I've been using them for a couple months with no signs of wear.If you meal prep or like having homemade components ready to go, these are absolutely worth it. They've made it so much easier for me to eat well on busy days.

Really strong chemical smell!

Ever since COVID-19, when everyone was home, which was great, because they were with me 24/7, but not so great, because it felt like I just finished cooking breakfast, only to have to start lunch. “You’re hungry again?!???”So I’ve always wanted to prepare meals in advance and love the idea of Souper Cubes, but not the hefty price tag. So when I saw this silicone tray for meal preparation, I was so excited. But when it arrived, it had a really strong chemical smell that didn’t go away for at least several days. I’ve never bought food safe silicone items that smell, much less smell that strong. Researched whether it’s ok, and some sites suggest that the smell might not be the silicone bakeware itself, but rather the packaging it come in. But I’m still leery using it for food. Maybe I’ll use it for a craft project instead. And then there’s the price. Price is less than the 1/2 cup tray sold by Souper Cubes. It has 12 cells versus Souper Cubes’ 8 cells. But Costco sells a set of five (2 trays with two 2-cup cells, 2 trays with four 1-cup cells, and 1 tray of ten 1/2-cup cells) for $22. And they don’t have the disturbing off gassing this tray had. The lids from the set at Costco are more rigid and fit more securely. The trays from the Costco set is reinforced at the top, making deformation and spills less likely. I did fill it with water, leaving about a 1/2” from the top to allow for expansion in the freezer, and despite what I perceived as being a bit floppy, the tray held up with no spills. Still think this a no-brainer. Get the set from Costco.
