Solid cast iron.

The unit I was sent is seasoned cast iron with a rough surfice in side and out. Was sent in a box that said "ceramic." I have a casserole piece that IS ceramic. That surface is very smooth. I treated this little pot like regular cast iron. I washed it and seasoned it with flaxseed oil. It's perfect for campfire cooking as well as inside I love it.
