Multiple fish prep devices
We are not expert fish mongers and have no idea what it takes to really prep a fish for cooking. We ordered this set and it comes with 10 different tools that we needed to look up and learn how to use. I’m sure if we were well versed in this art/skill, we wouldn’t need to do that, but in our case, as novices, we needed some help. The tools themselves are made of stainless steel and were relatively easy to clean. The feel pretty solid but the handles are also made of stainless steel, so they can be slippery when wet. Thankfully this kit does come with gloves to help with grip and protect your hands. One word of caution, because so many things are serrated, you will want to wash them quickly after using them so stuff doesn’t dry on them. It can be hard to clean serrated tools after stuff has dried on it.There are ten tools that are included and once we figured out what each one was meant for, we found they worked well. Some are varying sizes of serrated teeth so that can handle different sized fish with different scales. The shrimp deveined is also very useful. I’m used to using a pairing knife which works fine but the curve of the tool does make it easier to use.If you want to get into fishing, cooking fish etc, this set is relatively inexpensive for what you get, so we would say this is a good value. We also REALLY like that it comes with a nice bag to keep the tools in. These are not tools that you want floating around a drawer. You would definitely cut your hand or fingers if you don’t keep these safe and tucked away when note in use.
