These are perfect for meal prep and dipping cups.
AS DESCRIBED.
I have parrots and am the only one in my household that takes care of them. They are fed six different kinds of seeds, two types of bird pellets, and four types of nuts daily. Each of these is in a different canister in my bird room. The canisters are labeled with the name of each bird that eats that particular food and the amount. Some where, a long time ago, I got three of these dipping sauce cups, but needed more in case someone else had to feed the birds for me, there would be a cup in each canister. I kept looking for shot glasses but none seem right. A friend told me, "Look for dipping sauce cups." I did and ordered these. They are identical to the three I had! They will never, ever wear out!
OK, so why would a couple of empty-nesters need a dozen of these little stainless steel cups? I hear they're great for entertaining, but we entertain very little, thanks to our having adopted Bob, the Brainless Psychotic Beagle, who doesn't understand that guests who leave buffalo wings where the dog can reach them don't deserve to have their arms ripped off when attempting to rescue said wings from said dog. In the interest of avoiding lawsuits, we don't entertain. No, we use these little cups on a daily basis. For the last several months, we've been subscribing to one of the outfits that send you all the ingredients each week to prepare gourmet meals at home. As foodies, we love to eat and cook, but we HATE planning and shopping, so we gave the mail-order meal thing a shot, and we love it. We've learned a lot with this, too, and are now in the habit of prepping everything before we start cooking. We found that these little stainless shot glasses are PERFECT for prep work. We chop and measure out all the small quantities we need -- herbs, garlic, condiments, spices, etc.-- pop the individual ingredients into these little cups, and they're ready to go when we need them. The cups clean up in a heartbeat, and with a dozen of them on hand, you always have enough. I stack them in a cupboard right above my work space where they take up no room at all and are always handy. My youngest son also got turned on to mail-order cooking, and was delighted to receive some of these for Christmas for his own prep work!
Good for setting up your mise en place when getting ready to cook, and it's nice that you can toss these straight into the dishwasher. They are a tad bit too small though. Also, because the sides of the cups slope down so steeply and meet at straight lines instead of being rounded at the bottom of the cup does mean some stuff gets left in there (minced garlic, minced ginger, minced herb) when trying to use your fingers to get them out into whatever you're cooking. This means youre going to have to use a small spoon to get into those crevices. As long as whatever stuff you have inside these cups aren't sticky, then they should make it into your dish without needing to go in and scrape stuff out. Sticky stuff like minced garlic will require a spoon.TLDR: Nice cups overall. Build quality is nice and the stainless steel dishwashing capability is good. Only gripe is that they are too small and hard to get stuff out that won't tip out easily in the first place.
I liked the appearance and was well worth the money. These are just like you see in restaurants.
