On the first day of first grade, my son couldn’t open up his Thermos-style soup mug because of the pressure built up by the heat between the time I sent him to school and lunch. His teacher refused to assist him in opening the thermos, so it was obvious we needed to find an insulated soup container that was easier for him to open.After looking around for a few minutes, we found this food jar (among many other copies, I assume they’re all the same) that is much easier to open. We had him test it out with hot food inside before sending him to school with it, and he was able to open it without issue. You just pop up that tab and pull up and the lid comes off effortlessly.It easily holds one full can of soup, with some room to spare.Cleaning it is also easy as the lid twists apart into two pieces for easy cleaning, and all parts have been washed many times in the dishwasher and so far, no degradation in parts.We have only tested this soup jar with heated food - I do not know how well this retains cold items.And last but not least, it seems to keep his food hot until lunchtime, which is its intended purpose.

Works great! The blue color is a baby blue and not a greyish-blue.
This thermos has worked well so far. I have only put chicken nuggets in it so far for my son's lunch and he says they are warm when he eats them. It is easy for him (6 years old) to open and close it by himself. Since I haven't put soup in it yet, I can't speak to how well the seal works as far as being spill proof. I was worried about cleaning it at first because it didn't look like the plastic under the lid was going to dry well, which would mean mold in no time, but the plastic piece can twist off so that everything can be cleaned and dry completely.I do love this thermos and only gave it 4 stars because the color in the listing photos is inaccurate. I bought this one over others only because of the color and the color isn't like the photos. It's more of a baby blue and not a greyish-blue. That's a minor thing seeing as it functions as it should, I'm just bummed because the color is the only reason why I chose this one.

Sturdy exterior, weak plastic piece required for suction.
I really like the product, it's cute and a good size but the piece to maintain the suction broke in multiple places within 4 months. Unfortunately without it, the product doesn't work. Wish a replacement part could be purchased but it's not available on sellers page. I will try to reach out to seller for replacement part.
