PURE PERFECTION. Solid, straight, smooth, no splinters. Be careful of oily foods or staining fruits.
Mrs Aloha Friday has big plans for these. They're absolutely awesome. Her only problem is deciding WHICH amazing plan to use! They're perfectly solid and flat. We were afraid they'd be full of splinters and warped. NOPE. They're heavy, thick and exceptionally well made. Zero complaints. They're huge! Exactly as described. You could turn the "O" in LOVE on its back and it would be flat without the carved interior. There's nothing on the back, so it could be used just as easily on either side. OR...You could add stick-on feet to the bottoms of the trays. This would be a good idea if you're putting them on a table or even on the wall as art.Cheese and crackers or hard candy are great ideas for these. The only thing I would caution you about if you aren't going to use food safe varnish or mineral oil, is to avoid oily foods. The product page shows fried chicken and French fries, but the grease in those would absorb into the bamboo and stain it. So would cakes and cookies. Sliced and fruit could be tricky as well because it could stain with the color of the fruits. Like blueberries or strawberries, for example. If Mrs AF commits to using them as food trays, she'll use a clear coat of varnish to protect the wood, or mineral oil like she uses on cutting boards. The oil will require maintenance, so varnish may be the way to go. Then she can use them for any food she wants. STILL, NEVER PUT THEM IN THE DISHWASHER!!While they could obviously be used as food trays, they could also be vertical OR horizontal wall decor. They could be hung up individually, glued together or tied together. I can predrill tiny holes for screw eye hooks, so Mrs AF can string them with raffia. Or, I can attach mounting hardware for the letters to go on the wall directly. Straight or skewed. The letters could be varnished or painted, or they could be filled with resin and any number of things. Like those pretty beach scenes that look like sand and seashore. We both recommend these highly and feel like they can be BOUNCING boards to many other things besides charcuterie!
