Works as good as described
This is a great entry level grinder. While i have only ground 100 lbs of corn, its got great guts, serviceable if need be, and does an amazing job. The hopper holds 25 lbs of corn, i dont know what the bottom holds, but 50 lbs was a little over half. The screens are nice. Easy on easy off.Its pretty loud though, so have hearing protection. You dont want ringing (or more ringing) like i have, please be safe.Anyways, it grinds corn very well, and then i ground calf manna pellets on the smallest screen. I expected it to plug, but it did not.A great value, not very dusty, easy to clean and maintain.Edit to update. Ive been grinding 100 lbs of corn for a week since april. The machine finally had issues, it started to stink, and smoke. I shut it down. Ths outbord bearing (6201) seized up. Looks like due to dust intrusion. I took the grinder apart, and it was very simple inside, the motor was well put together, and easy to take apart. I was able to pull the bearing and replace it in a short period of time. I may just replace them as part of regular maintenance. The root cause of failure was the bearings seal and inner race are exposed to the grinding chamber. Im working on a bushing that will cover that, and when i get the 3d printed cover done, ill post a free link here.Edited from 5 to 4, because i feel while the bearing went much to soon in my opinion, it was easy to remove and replace with the only special tool being a 3 jaw puller and a press. Though other methods would have probobly worked. Still feel this was a quality purchase.
We have been looking for a grain mill or grinder for some time now. We wanted a mill that was versatile, affordable, easy to use, and didn't require too much space. The mill would have to serve as a grinder, so we can grind up whole corn or other grains and turn it into feed for our smaller livestock. We also do quite a bit of baking and have been wanting to mill other varieties of grains into our own flour. The mill arrived mostly assembled, all we had to do was attach the three locking latches to the lower bucket portion of the mill. The latches keep the motor and base together while the motor is running, and the latches also lock the two pieces of the mill together for storage (see pics). The mill is easy to manage and maneuver, due to it's convenient size and weight. 25 Liters sounds enormous, but it's roughly 6.5 U. S. gallons, so it's a bit bigger than a five gallon bucket. The mill is extremely easy to operate: just choose the sieve screen size and latch the mill together, then plug in the grounded - 3 prong plug, press the green power button and you're up and running. You can pour the grain in slowly or simply fill the hopper and let it do its job. When your done, or, if you need to change the sieve screen to another size, press the red button to stop the machine. Please be safe and always unplug the machine before changing the sieve screen, or your fingers may not be too happy. There are seven different sized sieve screens that come with the mill, they range from a fine - flour type finish, to a coarse - cracked corn type finish. This mill can be used to grind a wide variety of both grains and spices.I wanted to do a video to go along with this review, so we decided to grind up a 50 lb bag of whole kernal corn, using the mill. The mill worked flawlessly and wasn't as loud as we expected. The mill did generate a little bit of dust that was coming out of the sides while running, but, it wasn't too bad. Cleanup was easy, I used a damp cloth to wipe the hopper and the bucket clean, followed by a drying towel to remove any moisture or residue. Finally, a manual and a small wrench (for changing the sieve screen) comes included with the grain mill. The mill not only works great, but, looks good too. This grain mill is well-built and should last for years to come.
I have some hand crank grain mills and I had one that was a countertop grain mill, but it only does a very small amount at a time. Grain Mills can be expensive, so when I saw that this one was affordable, I had to grab it. It mills quickly and it does a great job of giving you a nice, consistent grind. It comes with different sieves, so you have some choice on how fine a grind you want. If you find it doesn’t give you what you want, you could run it through another grain mill that is specifically for making baking flours. I think that the finest sieve is good enough, but if you choose to use another grain mill, running your grain through this one first should cut the time in half for that process. For animal feeds this would be perfect as it makes a lot of that courser grind in almost no time at all.
What we like most about this grinder is how easy it is to use, empty and clean. The construction of it was obviously well thought out.We are using it for corn, and it works with no issues or drama, if it can handle corn, I think it can handle just about anything. It runs smoothly with no funny motor noises, and it does not get overly hot.For us the price was nice, and the main attraction. We would buy this grinder again.5 STARS
I have a manual grain grinder but really wanted something electric. This is a great option. It love the large capacity. This unit stores inside itself and is easy to clean. I love that it has sieve screens to put in for the process to be done in work.I had no problem with this over heating ir struggling. It is loud, but not unexpected for an electric grain mill. This set comes with everything you need and is so quick and easy to get grinding.
