This is a great knife set and I'm very pleased with it. I cook almost daily and I was using a rather dull set for a long time that was gifted to me. I decided to treat myself seeing as it was on sale and Christmas is coming up and I am not disappointed. This is my first decent knife set so the most important thing for me was a sharp knife set out of the box because sharpening is a hassle for me. This set cuts extremely well. I also love the damascus finish, which a knife looking set was also really important to me. The steel looks great and they feel very sturdy and durable. I was kind of worried about the block they come in marking up and getting scratched putting knives in but the paint honestly seems to be holding up as long as you're careful. A wonderful set and definitely worth the price if you ask me

When I say these knives are sharp, these knives are sharp! They are a great asset and addition to our kitchen. As others have stated pretty sure that the Damascus is not really Damascus it's just a laser etching but that's okay it looks cool. I have found the scissors to be strong and just as sharp as the knives. A great set for the money!

Great Knife Set at a Good Price

I am experienced with high end chef knives and I own several japanese (takamura, sakai takayuki, takeshi, ryusen) and a few german knives as well. At this price point I didn't have super high expectations, nor did I expect these to be as nice as my high end knives that each cost more individually than this entire set. I ordered this knife block set as a Christmas gift for my step son and his wife. He requested a set of damascus knives and these fit the bill and I expect them to be able to use these for a long time to come if cared for properly.I was impressed with the fit and finish. These knives feel good in the hands, have nice balance and came with a good edge out of the box. They are true damascus (as opposed to a laser etched pattern) and forged from VG10 steel. They are a lighter than expected and the pattern isn't as defined as the photos depict. The kitchen shears aren't damascus of course but are a nice addition to the set.Overall Impression: Has more knives in the set than really needed, but should have a knife to cover pretty much any need in the kitchen. They are well made true damascus knives that should last a lifetime if cared for properly. Do not put in the dishwasher or soak in water. Hand wash with soap and warm water and dry after use before storing. They made a nice gift and I would purchase again in the future.
