This is a great bowl-- can be used for so many things
This bowl is very versatile. I have used it twice in the 2 weeks I've had it. It makes such a pretty presentation. The picture is of a salad in the bowl. I also used it for my Thanksgiving stuffing, which I forgot to photograph! I was able to cook the stuffing in the oven. You a use the bowl in extreme temps -- cold or hot. The wooden lid fits down tight onto the bowl. It has a groove in the wood that just fits onto the bowl.There was a "chemical" smell to the wooden top when I received it, but upon washing it, it went away. I took the stuffing to the Thanksgiving event I was going to. My niece immediately noticed the bowl and wanted one! It's that pretty and impressive! It's also very durable, having thick sides as you can see in the picture.I use mainly glass (as opposed to plastic and some metals) in my kitchen as it is better for our bodies and health, and this is one of my best glass purchases. I know I will get lots of use from it.

I love how huge this glass bowl is. I use it for brining my chickens and my jerky and it's more than enough size for that.The lid is really beautiful and seems to have a lacquer finish on top. Personally, I won't be using the lid as a cheese or cutting board because I don't want to get lacquer in my food. But just as an airtight and waterproof lid, it's functioning really well.For a sense of scale, one of the images includes my hand. I'm an adult female with a size large hand, and this bowl dwarfs my hand. It's such a huge bowl. You could easily bake a cake and put that on the lid, and flip the bowl upside down on top of the lid, and use it as an airtight cake dome. It's that big, which makes it so versatile.The glass bowl washes up easily in the dishwasher. I'm just hand washing the lid and not scrubbing it but just wiping it gently.Definitely recommend.
