Well, it is Stainless Steel… but

Some observations:(1) The stainless-steel surface is truly stainless steel albeit I can’t determine the exact grade. This surface is somewhat slick when wet so some care is needed when being used with smaller harder objects; clearly the polypropylene (PP) side with its slight texture is better for those uses — just as recommended. But that does obviate the advantage of minimizing exposure to a plastic cutting surface.(2) The steel surface is going to scratch, and badly when a knife blade contacts it; this simply is reality given the knife edge is a higher hardness then the cutting surface. Given the thinness of the steel, I would be mildly concerned with steel shaving eventually making their way into foods. The instructions suggest using the steel side for meets and the plastic for fruits and vegetables: reasonable as you could always not cut the meats all the way through to preserve the steel surface from deep scratches.(3) The claim is that there is a TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) bead around the edge of the board which is designed to help prevent the board from slipping around during use. Well, the TPE bead is certainly present but I find that is doesn’t make any difference and may even cause it to slip around more due to the very limited area of contact on a laminate countertop. This may not be an issue with a granite/marble/quartzite counter as I don’t have any of those materials. Still, there are hundreds of food/medical-grade TPE materials available which would be softer and provide a better grip.(4) As noted by others, the board is quite heavy. I’m not sure exactly why but suspect between the board being thicker then all my other ones and that the PP appears to incorporate some sort of mineral filler (it is fully opaque whereas unfilled PP is a translucent whitish-blue). Granted this give the board heft and helps it stay in place during use; it is certainly possible to have decreased the overall weight some for better handling overall.(5) I have not found the steel surface hard to clean and while the plastic surface will stain, a quick rinse with bleach handles that easily. It just becomes extremely important to completely rinse any residual bleach from the steel side. This is especially critical where the steel is bonded to the PP base as bleach WILL attack stainless-steel over time.(6) And that brings me to my final observation: the bonding of the steel surface to the plastic appears to have been minimized. This is not unexpected, but if for no other reason I would suggest that this makes the unit unsuitable for dishwasher use, even in the top rack (where it will, BTW, take up a vast amount of the area available. I think hand-washing with a quick rinse with bleach water (1 part bleach to 2 parts water) following by copious rinsing and a light cleaning with dish soap would be a better long-term approach.Clearly time will ultimately determine how rugged, or not, the stainless-steel surface and the assembly is with almost daily usage.

Excellent Multi-Sided Cutting Board

After using it extensively for all my kitchen prep, I have a good sense of where it shines and its few limitations.My initial impression was that it felt substantial and well-constructed. It’s heavier than a typical plastic board but not terrible. The non-slip edges are very effective, keeping the board firmly planted on my granite countertops, whether I was using the steel or the plastic side.It doesn't absorb juices, stains, or odors, which gives me great peace of mind regarding cross-contamination. After dicing raw chicken or slicing steak, cleaning is incredibly simple. A quick wash with hot, soapy water, and it's pristine. There are no knife marks left behind, and I don't have to worry about lingering bacteria. It’s also fantastic for kneading dough or working with pastry, as the cool surface helps keep the dough from getting too warm, and it releases easily.The juice groove is a fantastic feature. When I was carving a roasted chicken or slicing juicy tomatoes, it did an excellent job of catching all the runoff, keeping my counter clean and dry. It's deep enough to be effective without getting in the way of the cutting area. Over time, this side has started to show some minor, shallow knife scratches, which is expected of any plastic board. However, because it’s a high-quality, dense material, the marks are less pronounced than on cheaper boards I’ve owned. The fact that I can toss the entire board in the dishwasher for a deep, sanitizing clean is a huge convenience.Im very happy with this 2-in-1 cutting board and it has earned a permanent spot on my counter. It successfully combines the best attributes of two different materials into one practical, well-designed tool. It’s perfect for the home cook who values hygiene and convenience and wants to streamline their kitchen gear. I would recommend it to anyone who is tired of juggling multiple boards for meat and vegetables. Good cutting board give the confidence of less bacteria!

Well, I was a dum-dum and thought that this came with 2 boards of 2 different sizes, but it only comes with one – which was fine by me! The board is pretty heavy weight with one side being metal and the other a plastic material. I’m really not fond of the plastic side as that was what I was trying to get away from. Once you start cutting into a plastic cutting board, with time you will end up having tiny pieces of plastic that may transfer to your food. I noticed after just a few uses that I had put cut marks into the plastic on this, I probably shouldn’t be cutting so hard. The metal side it nice and holds up well. The quirk I have with it is that I use a stainless steel knife so the metal hitting metal gives me the heebie-jeebies, but it’s something I will get used to with repeated use. It is nice to know that the metal side won’t soak up any bacteria after it gets washed. Even though I read the listing wrong and there was only 1 board, I’m pretty happy with it.
