Works great for making yogurt! Order some CR 2032 batteries as well because the battery included will be just about dead. Also it defaults to Celsius, to change to fahrenheit take a pin or cake tester and insert in the hole on the back of the handle. Really glad I bought it!
I would love to be able to give this 2 in 1 Stainless Steel Whisk Egg Beater & Instant thermometer Probe 5 stars because it checked off all of the boxes as to what I was looking for when I made the purchase. However, the first direction out of the box is, "Take off the battery sleeve". I opened the battery cover and took out the battery looking for the battery sleeve and there was no battery sleeve. Hmmm??? I put it back together and it was DEAD. Since we had another CR2032 I installed that and the thermometer worked. Was this a used/returned item, I wonder. Anyway, I paid for a working battery and did not get that so I cannot give it more than 3 stars. If the company rectifies this and sends me a new battery I will gladly change my review.UPDATE: I contacted the company and within hours they had replied and before the end of the day I had a tracking number for a package with a new battery. You can't beat that!I used the whisk today to make yogurt and it worked great. I've had trouble with the clamp on thermometers melting (plastic on top). This thermometer solves that problem, the temperature was accurate and the attached whisk was a great bonus.
I use this to make loads of toffee every Christmas. It’s always been so hard to stir and keep track of temperature aWith a traditional thermometer. This one is perfect!
This was a great idea that just didn’t hold up. I used this to monitor the temperature of heating milk to make yogurt once a week. The first thing to fail was the silicone piece that grips the thermometer into the whisk. I was able to still use it for a little, but shortly afterwards, the thermometer stopped working. A battery replacement did not revive it. In all, it lasted less than a year. I would not recommend this for someone wanting to use it on a daily or even weekly basis, as IMHO, it just won’t hold up.
It's like the extra hand you need sometimes. The concept is so helpful for some recipes - from yogurt to hollandaise to candy... The build quality is commensurate with the price. It probably won't last long. But it works and works well.
So great for making caramels or any dish that exact temperature really matters. Would definitely recommend.
I make a lot of ice cream and custard-based bases have been fraught with peril. This lets me dial in my temperature range easily and with confidence.For once, the eggs are more fragile than I am.One warning - this got put in with the dirty dishes in my sink and was dead, thereafter, presumably after getting soaked.
