These jar openers are interesting, but not necessarily what you're looking for.The construction is pretty solid, and they are durable, but the operation is a bit fussy.They bite pretty aggressively into the lids they are opening, which is fine for disposable lids, but can be a problem for mason jar lids (which they do fit!), or lids on condiments you will have for a long time.On the upside, once you can get them to grip they do grip quite firmly, though the extra leverage they give, especially on bigger jars, is minimal.Overall, at under $10 they are a reasonable value to try, because if they work for you it will be life changing, and if not, you don't have to feel bad about "wasted" money, when you throw them into the drawer of random stuff to dig out when your in-laws visit.

Handy little gadget for any kitchen
I was unsure how well these would work. However once this is put on the can it automatically releases the vacuum seal. Making it nearly effortless to open any jar. It works on any size jar. It is very easy to put on and use. But sometimes to get the grip it is a little more difficult. It does not say how to use it but when you do use it it releases the vacuum seal it does not open the jar. I thought it was actually used to open the jar. However you grip onto it and it releases the vacuum seal making the jar easy to open. They seem well made but sometimes you do have to help position it so the quality is neutral. For what you're getting it's reasonably priced. I do wish that on the part where you hold on to there was rubber to help you grip on to it easily. If it did have a little rubber on it it would be much easier to grip on to.

All function, no frills
This is one of the most utilitarian-looking items in my home. Pure function, no frills.I was a little surprised to find that it used such a narrow serrated metal surface to grip the lid of a jar. I had expected something wider, and coated with rubber or some other non-slip material. The gripping surface sometimes seems like it's going to slip past the bottom of the lid, although that hasn't actually happened so far.It gives you decent leverage, and a good grip, although you have to get used to adjusting the size with the handle out, so you get that last bit of grip by pressing it in. I'd say I had to open a dozen or so jars before it became second nature.If your hands are really sore (from arthritis, or injury), grabbing a narrow metal handle isn't going to be the most comfortable thing to be doing. Fortunately, I'm not there yet. But on the plus side, because it's so minimal, it takes up almost no space in a utility drawer -- unlike some other utensils that I have. (I'm looking at you, can opener.)I was also surprised at how easy it is to clean. Not that you need to clean it much. It doesn't interact at all with the contents of a jar, the way a can opener interacts with the contents of a can.It's nice that you can get two of them for one low price. I have one in the kitchen, and the other in my workshop, where I occasionally have to open cans or bottles of solvents, additives, stains, and whatnot. If you're getting one for yourself, you might as well get a second, and give it to someone who needs it... or will need it eventually.
