Not what I’d hoped

I’m generally a big fan of beeswax wrappers, but I’ve never tried them with bread before and I’m not super impressed. I was hoping the bread bag would extend the freshness of homemade bread, but basically it works just like a plastic bag — you have to wrap it tightly around the loaf and any part not in direct contact with the fabric gets hard. It’s cuter than a plastic bag, of course, and might be a nice way to present a homemade loaf as a gift or to bring to a dinner, but it’s not going to keep the bread fresh any longer than usual.

Perfect for sourdough

Definitely useful for sourdough and other breads. They keep the bread fresh and lasts longer. They are very easy to wash. The bowl covers are not as stretchy as others I’ve used but they are also beeswax coated so that makes them stiffer. And the more you use them the more they get worn in and easier to use.

A little pricy for what you get, but functional

I mostly got these for the bowl covers since I find this style of bread bag kind of annoying to use (nobody in our house but me bothers to close it properly so our bread ends up going stale.)It is surprisingly hard finding elastic bowl covers large enough to go over my mixing bowls, so the biggest size is excellent (shown on 6qt stand mixer bowl.) The medium should also cover most smaller mixing bowls or average size bannetons. The small will only fit on my largest cereal bowls, so I doubt I'll pull it out often.The quality leaves a bit to be desired at this price point in my opinion, the edges are not finished super nicely and the beeswax has the stiff brittle texture that kind of makes me question if it's lower quality beeswax. I know that personally I could get the fabric and wax to sew these up cheaper myself (but would I? Probably not, I'm very lazy...)Still they are functional and keep a good air seal on my dough while it's rising, and as they usually don't come into contact with much food they are fast enough to wipe clean.I also think the design is super cute, so I'm happy to look at them while baking!

Beeswax and rolltop keep bread fresh and delicious!

I ordered my first set of beeswax-lined bread bags earlier this year, and I love them so much that I decided to order more! These bags help the bread maintain its moisture and stay fresh. I also appreciate that the colors and design are subtle enough to sit on the counter without being a distracting eyesore.I was happy to find these: I think their printed design is a little more tasteful than the other ones I already have. I'm glad that the image of the bread is there, because it helps people understand what's inside. but I'm also glad that it's small and relatively discreet.My other bags have both a zipper and a roll-top, but I found the zipper to be unnecessary. Rolling the roll-top creates a secure closure that is made more secure by the way that the beeswax likes to cling to itself. So, I'm glad that these do NOT have a zipper. That's just bulk that I don't need.If you're trying to decide between bags with beeswax linings vs. synthetic linings, here are some things to consider.Beeswax pro: the wax can form a gentle seal when you press the two sides together. For me, this is important because sometimes I'll make a loaf of bread when I'm the only one around to eat it, and there's no way I can tackle the whole thing before it goes stale. So I freeze half of it. With these bags, I can press the bag to squeeze the air out and help the beeswax lining on both sides cling to each other, then I roll it up. This works wonders for preventing issues when freezing.Beeswax con: You can't wash it in the machine or with very hot water, as the wax will melt. This means you'll need to hand wash it, and generally be more conscientious about preventing mold and whatnot from growing on the bags.These bags are constructed well and are made of quality materials. I think the price is right, and I highly recommend this product for your home kitchen, or as a gift for someone who loves baking.
