The lid does not snap on like other plastic containers. Lay the lid on the icetray then pull the sides out a little so that they can wrap around and go under, the lip of the lid. It is easy, just takes patience to learn.

Nice size but a few significant negatives

These cubes are a little larger that most of my silicone ice cube trays, and the quality is nice, but there are some significant downsides that make me less happy.First and foremost, the ice cubes don't release easily compared to other similar molds. It's not impossible, but I have several other trays that work better.Secondly, the silicone cover isn't easy to get on securely. I eventually just gave up and keep the trays on some disposable take-home container lids.It's a good tray, but if you're concerned about ease of use as your principal driving factor, it's not easy.

Taste Toxic

I bought these for the convenience and health benefits compared to plastic trays but the AWFUL chemical taste they impart on the ice cubes is horrible. My daughter was the first to use the ice cubes and wanted to know why the water tasted so bad. I thought she was just being picky but when I tasted the water I could not believe it. I then tasted the ice cubes and immediately spit them out. This cannot be healthy. I scrubbed and washed the trays hoping this was just residue left over from production but I could not get the awful taste out. I cannot believe that their is anything healthy about the chemicals these trays are leaching into the water. STAY AWAY.
