Thumbs up on these food-grade silicone trays
I replaced my prior ice cube trays with these food-grade silicone trays. Why I like it:- Food grade silicone; No plastic. There's no need for plastics considering we can use glass or food grade silicone products for foods, instead.- Flexible tray & lid - it's bendy so easy to remove just a few at a time, and can't crack like hard plastic- Color I selected (green) is refreshing / looks great. it's kinda cheerful :)- These trays have lids - which is a great improvement from my old ice cube trays that didn't have lids. This keeps freezer burn off and keeps the ice cubes clean / free of bacteria in the freezer.Helpful Tip> Just place your trays in the freezer in a location where it will sit undisturbed since the lids don't snap-on firmly.Helpful Tip> I fill the compartments half full - I find this makes it easier to remove the ice cubes, and is a little easier on my blender when I use ice in smoothies. You need to refill a little more often, but it's a nice gentle way to use the trays so they're not overfilled and I think this will make them last longerGiven media and Consumer Reports articles on plastics and documentaries like "Plastic People" - I've been concerned about microplastics getting into our bodies and in our environment - looking for ways to prevent this. Nearly all kinds of plastics have the potential to leech microplastics into foods (even non-BPA varieties) and certainly into the environment when discarded (which means it gets into streams, then rivers, then the ocean and then fish ingest microplastics and even smaller fragments (invisible, called nanoplastics). I'm a big fish-eater -- don't like that this is happening at all. Everything we do is connected to the environment and our health, it seems. The idea household plastics end up in the seafood that we eat, and the stay in our bodies forever after being ingested, is really discouraging, yet we can, I believe, do small things that help with this issue. This year, over a series of months in small steps, I eliminated (not all, but nearly all) of the plastic from the kitchen - including food prep appliances, cutting boards, plastic baggies and even trash bags. I switched from dishwashing pods back to dishwashing powder, because even the plastics in those pods get into septic and water treatment systems. Who knew...! So the little things we all do, I feel, can help solve these issues.

You can use for more than ice 😉
I didn’t even use this for ice . I used this to reuse my candles and make candle melts . This thing is phenomenal. Very stretchy, I love the cute bright green color, it stabilized and “froze” the wax very quickly.Because the silicone is stretchy it’s hard for the cover to remain on it especially if you fill it with water but that would be the only tiny downside.Great size you can make a multitude of “wax” haha or water ice cubes. Can be used for fun activities like I did!I recommend !

Works well both with water and food
The 2-pack of silicone trays comes with silicone lids.I am using them to freeze canned chicken for dogs. I have small dogs, and they don't finished a can of wet food without it sitting in fridge for several days. So, I freeze the meat into cubes and thaw them as needed. These trays are easier to fill than a couple others I've tried. The lids take a bit of care to get them completely on, but it's not difficult. They allow me to stack the trays in the freezer. The trays release with ease. I just give the them a little twist, then push the bottom of each well and out pops the cube.If making regular ice cubes, they look very nice in a drink. I can also see using these for candle melts, small confections, and frozen herb cubes, as they are the perfect size.

Great Product, Perfect Size!!
I drink almost exclusively out of Powerade bottles. If you know, you know. They are sturdy, easy to clean, have a secure top, and are wide-based enough, they don’t tip over. So I typically fill my bottle with Diet Dew and a squirt of Kool Aid liquid. But ice? That’s been my challenge. If I buy ice, it’s perfectly sized and slides into the bottle. But I don’t have freezer space for a 5# bag of ice. We bought a countertop ice maker, but I’m not a fan. The cubes are small and hollow. This makes them fast to freeze, but also very fast to melt. When I saw these trays, I thought I’d give them a try. I’M SO GLAD I DID!! They are the perfect size! They fit in my bottle perfectly! They are easy to use, but like another review mentioned, they don’t have cut-outs at the top rim of each spot, so you have to fill each one. No big deal to me.Another review also said they were hard to carry to the freezer unless you transfer them on a tray. I didn’t find that to be accurate. I hold the tray across the span of my open hand, fill it, put the lid on, and put it in the freezer. These are just so convenient!!

Cute idea, hard to extract
The hex cubes are super cute! But it’s hard to fill these and get them into the freezer without a ton of spillage. It’s also harder to extract them than I thought it would be. The cubes are small - meaning that they freeze fast, but also melt fast. I wasn’t completely disappointed, but also would not buy again - unless freeze time was very important.

The lids DO fit
So many people complaining about the lids - they are all wrong. They ARE fiddly, as people say, but if you get them on properly and securely, they work as intended. You have to make sure that the edge of the lid is placed properly with respect to the edge of the tray - all the way around the perimeter. Once you figure it out, it is easier to make sure it is secure. I love these! If you can't or won't spend the extra time in filling and the extra time in dumping the cubes out, go buy traditional hard plastic trays. They are floppy and getting the lids on takes me an extra 30 seconds to a minute now that I know what I'm doing. Getting the cubes out absolutely does require pushing pretty much each one individually. I timed it - usually about 15 - 20 seconds for me. In my opinion, the extra time is worth it for piles of smaller cubes from trays that fit easily in a small space in my freezer.
