Large and Small Quality Kitchen Scissors/Shears
I really needed more kitchen shears because the use of kitchen shears is heavy in my household. We tend to use them to cut up raw and cooked meats, poultry, and fish. We also use them to cut up raw fruits and vegetables. And because of the heavy use the lower quality shears that we’ve had, in the past, break or get old and lose their sharpness or they just disappear (get lost). So, I sprung on these scissors because they appeared to be of good quality and there two (2) scissors in a pack. They are kitchen scissors or I like to call them cooking shears or kitchen shears. The kitchen scissors blades are made of stainless steel and the handles are silicon. The handles are black. There are two (2) scissors/shears; one (1) is heavy duty for cutting up your thick and tough meats or poultry and cutting through boned meats. The other scissors (the smaller scissors) are for the more lightweight or light duty cutting on herbs, vegetables, or seafood. The blades and handles are of good quality and of a solid weight to me. The blades open and close and cut well and the scissors are easy to handle and do not slip or slide open.My fingers fit through the handles’ openings fine and I’m able to grip them fine. I also had my husband and father-in-law try the scissors because their hands are much larger than mine and their fingers and thumbs fit the scissors fine. So, large handed people should not have any issues using the scissors. Also, the handles are wide enough for right or left handed people to be able to use without issues and I had my family members of different handedness try the scissors and there wasn’t a problem. The blades are wide and measured out to be the lengths and widths described. The care for the scissors is warm water and dry with a kitchen towel. I tend to rinse mine with hot soapy water to cut down on contamination or cross contamination of the different types of foods that I have cut up and I dry them and put them away. The smaller kitchen scissors are not just kitchen scissors which also is a plus, for my family, because they are multi-functional meaning they can be used for other tasks besides as scissors. They are or can function as other kitchen tools, such as a nutcracker, a bottle opener, a fish scaler, and a serrated blade. We also used our kitchen scissors to cut open food containers and packages and they worked fine.I cut some fish and shrimp with my smaller scissors and they cut even and clean. I was able to cut off a chunk of raw and skinned salmon and further cut the chunk up into small pieces for my cats. I tried cutting up a whole raw chicken with my larger scissors and I had no issues cutting through the meat, bones, and joints. I opened a bottle using the bottle opener and cracked open some walnuts with the nutcracker and everything worked just fine for me.The men in my family liked the scissors so much that they all want the scissors for Father’s Day or birthday gifts in advance for their hunting and fishing trips. So, if you have a fisher or hunter in your family you may want to get the scissors for their tackle or hunting boxes/cases. The scissors fit and store well in our cutlery drawer and hang well on my kitchen utensil hooks. For the price of the scissors you are getting two (2) sizes of scissors, but also three (3) other kitchen tools in one which seems like they are reasonably priced to me.
