This Espresso Machine Honestly Blows Me Away - Best Coffee Purchase I've Made!

I picked up this Ollygrin 20-bar espresso machine after getting tired of spending money on coffee shop visits, and honestly, it's been one of my best purchases this year. I've been using it non-stop since getting it, pulling double shots daily, and the quality is fantastic.Build Quality & DesignThe machine has a really sleek, modern look with just the right amount of chrome accents and a gorgeous touchscreen that makes it feel way more expensive than it is. When I first unboxed it, I could tell this was a quality appliance I wouldn't mind keeping on my counter permanently. The construction is solid overall, though I'll be honest - there are some plastic components, especially around the portafilter attachment area. I was initially worried about durability when putting the espresso handle on the first few times, but it's held up perfectly with daily use. No leaks, no issues, and the plastic parts have proven more durable than I expected.Performance & Coffee QualityThe 15-bar pressure system (despite the 20-bar name) delivers excellent extraction with rich crema and delicious taste. The espresso that comes out is genuinely impressive quality - obviously you need good beans and the right grind, but this machine does its part beautifully. The 1350W motor heats up fast and maintains consistent temperature, so there's no waiting around when you want your morning coffee. The pre-infusion feature really does make a difference in the flavor extraction.Ease of UseThis machine is perfect for someone who might feel overwhelmed by more complex espresso setups. The touchscreen is intuitive, and the whole process is straightforward once you get the hang of it. The portafilter comes with single and double shot baskets, plus a measuring spoon that doubles as a tamper. The ingenious basket locking system with a groove and dimple design is basically foolproof - there's only one way to put them in, which eliminates guesswork.Steam Wand & Milk FrothingThe steam wand produces excellent microfoam for lattes and cappuccinos. Just hit the steam button and turn the silver knob halfway - it locks in place and creates perfect milk texture for foam art if you're into that.Practical FeaturesThe removable water tank and drip tray make cleaning simple, and the compact design fits well in any kitchen setup. The cup warmer is a nice touch that adds to the overall coffee experience.Tips for New UsersDon't pack the coffee too hard into the basket - the water won't get through properly. Also, run a cycle of plain water through before your first shots, and make sure to rotate the steam knob fully when first starting up to prime the boiler pump.OverallFor a budget machine, this Ollygrin delivers performance that rivals much more expensive options. The combination of solid construction, user-friendly design, and excellent coffee quality makes it an unbeatable value. It's transformed my morning routine and saved me a fortune on coffee shop visits.Five stars - highly recommend for anyone wanting quality espresso at home without breaking the bank or dealing with overly complicated machines!

Perfect espresso maker

This espresso machine is easy to use and looks clean on the counter. The touchscreen is straightforward and makes it simple to switch between cappuccino, latte, and Americano without guessing or fiddling with settings. The coffee comes out hot and consistent, and the milk frother works well for basic foam. It’s not café level, but it does the job for everyday drinks. The detachable water tank is convenient and makes refilling and cleaning less annoying.

Makes an amazing cup of espresso.

The machine isn’t the most intuitive to use. I can’t figure out how to get it to make steam without pushing out a stream of hot water first. Also, I have to run the hot water from the water spout first before it will allow the water to go to the new head. So I have to make sure I have an extra cup when brewing so I can catch the water. The first cup had an overwhelming smell of plastic, almost nauseating. I needed to run the water spout for several minutes to get the smell out. I was bracing myself for a long process but I only had to run the hot water spout for 2 to 3 minutes and the smell was gone. Despite the mechanical issues, this thing makes an amazing cup of coffee. Honestly, it may be the best coffee I’ve ever had. The combination of the steamed half and half with the espresso makes a luxuriously creamy cup of coffee. Also because of the brewing process the coffee doesn’t have the jittery after affect that brewed coffee can produce. I ordered an espresso tamping set to add to the experience. Also, the instructions warn that the machine should be used with a mat or some other protective thing to prevent the rubber feet from staining the counter top. The machine is pretty hard to slide unless you put sliders or get a slider tray, which I did. I’m hoping the puck screen I ordered will help keep the brew head clean. I haven’t had any issues with mineral buildup since I used distilled water. I know this isn’t common but I wish the portafilter could hold enough coffee for 3 or 4 shots so I don’t have to go through the tamping process multiple times. Overall, this espresso maker is a nice entry level machine and would make a great gift.

Simple machine

This is a perfect espresso only machine. Let’s be clear: you aren’t making a cup of regular coffee or a fancy drink: you are making a single or a double espresso. You have to grind your own beans or have them already ground. You aren’t using a pod. You are making an espresso. If that is your jam, this is your machine. For me, I enjoy it. My biggest complaint: I can’t really see the water level when it is on my counter. So then I have to pull it away from the wall to add the water. The espresso tastes as good as your bean quality, and it delivers a nice pour. Again, this is an espresso only machine, so if you want a cappuccino you need to froth your own milk and pour. For me this is a good, simple machine that you can employ for bigger drinks if they are in your purview
