Heavy but safe & 'clean' 2-pack stainless steel cutting boards
I was excited to try stainless steel cutting boards for the 'clean' and health aspects of ss. This set comes with two sizes, and while they do the job, there are a few things to know before buying.First off - they are heavy. That seems obvious since they’re stainless steel, but I was still surprised. The listing calls them lightweight and compact, which I’d definitely disagree with. On the plus side, that weight keeps them from sliding around when you’re chopping, but it also makes them awkward to pick up, especially since they sit flat against the counter. The little cutout handle is actually helpful for prying them up or sliding them around.Another “surprise” was when I first unboxed them. They looked cheap, scratched, and kind of awful… until I realized (with help from my nephew) that there’s a protective film covering each board. The film is stuck on tight, so you’ll need a little patience and effort to peel it off, but once removed, the boards look much better. Honestly, the listing should put that warning up top, not hidden at the very bottom.Cleaning has been easy ... soap and water works fine, no rusting or staining so far. They do pick up fingerprints quickly, so even a freshly washed board can look smudged. Also worth noting: the care instructions are inconsistent. The description says dishwasher safe, but the packaging says hand wash only. I’ve stuck to hand washing just to be safe.Overall, they’re sturdy, hygienic, and a safer option than wood or plastic if food safety is your main concern.
