Super easy to get professional results! Watch a tutorial on YouTube on how to get your musubi set up and you'll never buy musubi again. Just make sure to have fun and experiment. Probably a fantastic activity for kids!I made these for the super bowl and they were a huge hit. People I didn't even know asking me where I bought them. I made a homemade glaze of brown sugar, soy, sriracha, pinapple juice, furikake flakes, mirin and a touch of fish sauce. I cut the spam by hand (next purchase is a spam slicer to get perfectly consistent slices), "fried" them on a very lightly oiled nonstick pan (spam has enough fat that will start rendering) and once they were looking just about ready I brushed my glaze on each side of slices and flipped them a couple times to get it nice and tacky. Once I laid out the nori and pressed the rice (don't press too hard - you want it packed but not hard packed) I then glazed the top of the rice (just enough to add a nice coating of color to the top of the rice - not too much), then I put the spam slice in which this mold perfectly shapes and pressed the spam down while lifting the mold and finished the nori wrap.I love Hawaii and when I visit I get spam multiple times a day, one of those times is always musubi. I love the stuff. This mold was so affordable and now I can make spam any time I want! I highly recommend Nishiki rice made sticky so it holds together nicely.If you love spam musubi, or honestly any kind of musubi, seafood, pork, vegan or otherwise then you need this! The possibilities are endless!
It can be a little rough to pull off the nori if you stuff a lot of rice in, but other than that it's a very easy to clean, durable piece of equipment that does its job.
