Great for hotel pan lids, good grip
These have been great for removing lids from hotel pans, since they're able to easily reach into the recess in the lid and get a secure grip. Using normal oven mitts is difficult because you have to fit the thick padding into the small opening, and then end up dropping it.The non-slip silicone grip works well and they have pretty good leverage for a solid grip. The metal seems a little thin but they haven't bent at all even lifting 5+ lbs in each gripper.I would otherwise rate these five stars, since they work well and the price makes it a good value, but I did run into one issue that drops it to four stars. One of the two operates very smoothly but the other gripper was gritty and sticky when opening and closing. The internal edge of one of the parts had a sharp edge on it that was catching and caused some steel to be scratched away, which left some steel dust to accumulate. After working it back and forth for a while, it eventually smoothed out and I was able to clean out the dust, but you should watch out for that on yours.
