These are sturdy, very sharp, and comfortable to hold and use. I like to use these on gjetost, a hard caramelized Scandinavian goat cheese, but they work on most semi-hard cheeses, like cheddar, gouda, or swiss, and also creamier textures like havarti. Not a good option for softer cheeses like bries.
What a bunch of junk this is tried to cut a piece of cheese with it when it was brand new and it came apart in three pieces the blade, the handle, and the little hook on the bottom to hang it with all three pieces came apart was so lucky that my finger was not anywhere near the razor sharp blade or I would’ve lost a total finger! This piece of crap and junk needs to be taken off of their website. How dangerous is this that you go to cut something with a super sharp razor blade on the end for the cheese and it came right apart the handle and the bottom I’ve had one similar to this for 10 years and I’ve never had this issue. This is to tell you about the junk that is being made in China and is sent over here to be sold. Glad I was able to return it and get my complete money back. At least Amazon is up on that guarantee.
I got these for casual kitchen use, and they do the job, but you can tell they’re on the cheaper side. The metal feels flimsy, and the handles don’t have much weight to them. They slice cheese very thin, almost paper-thin, which is fine for softer cheeses but not ideal if you want thicker cuts. On the plus side, you get two slicers for the price and they’re easy to clean. They’re decent for light use but not for anyone expecting heavy-duty quality.
