No more scalding fingers.

Kitchen and paper towels are ok for wiping hands and counters, but when it comes to picking up something hot from the microwave, this is the way to go. At first I thought they were a bit flimsy, but then, that's why there are two. You're already picking up something hefty, you don't need to add to it. They're easy to clean. Just a little soapy water and a wipe and you're good to go. I no longer soak up the liquid from my soup bowl with a paper towel. I use my gripper tongs.

3rd times the charm

I have two other hot plate grippers from 2 separate brands and sellers and this is by far the best one AND the cheapest. The others I got were either fully plastic or made with both stainless steel and plastic, yet were incredibly flimsy and would literally drop anything I would grip - completely defeating the purpose of the product. This one firmly grips onto whatever you hold - though you need to use BOTH tongs if you plan to hold something heavier. The silicone bit on the tongs greatly help with the gripping and the handles aren't obnoxiously bulky or loose like other brands. They're also pretty lightweight, but I would prefer something a little heavier and even more sturdy but this still gets the job done.
