I should have thought about this before I requested it, but I didn't. The release mechanism (that is, the strip that rotates to eject the food, not simply the trigger) is on the right side of the scoop, so you really can't use it left-handed. It might still be okay for softer things like cookie dough, though those would be LARGE cookies. I expect this is a functional tool, but not for me.

That makes scooping ice cream so much easier. Also cleans the scoop with each dip as well.
