Telling everyone about this! I had a plastic one, but didn’t want the toxins, so switched to this metal one. It’s great quality, I can tell it’s going to last. Good grip, easy to clean. Works great! Fits in a regular utensil drawer
Good design and excellent quality
Seems very well built, but make sure you do not use this on a "non-stick" pan, it will most definitely scratch the coating off.The only complaint I have is that the handle should be slightly longer so your hand isn't so close to the heat in the pan when you are using this.I really like that it is stainless steal and not that nylon/plastic stuff. This one will actually chop up your meat.It calls itself a masher as well, but I don't think I would use this for mashing, just for breaking up ground meats.
I'll start with the bad. As I don't have a dishwasher this had to be hand washed, the sponge did not reach all the way into the crevices, tried a straw bottle brush - helped, but at the very ends there is a crevice where the blades don't quite attach to the middle metal thing, and there is food stuck in there that I can't get out. Definitely lost points for that. If I can't get the old dirty food out, I can't exactly use this on new food, now can I?Onward! Ok, I didn't want to scratch my pan, so I carefully tried really hard to not let this touch the pan while mashing the ground meat. It still worked pretty well even doing that, way better than just a spatula. I did have to clean it out now and again with a fork or butter knife, but I always have to scrape off the spatula anyway, so I just consider that par for the course. It was very sturdy and solid and pretty easy to use, even with my trying not to scrape it against the pan. At one point I added a can of carrots and the carrots were huge, so I just cut them up with this thing, gently pushing it down all throughout the pan several times and it worked really great for that. Which is why I included the picture of the carrots, lol.If I can find a way to clean out the ends this may get 4 stars, but if I can't then it might just have to fall to 2 or so. Sad. It really seemed a nice little gadget, I was thinking, after trying it out, that it might actually be good for mashed potatoes too.
Love it! Upgraded from a plastic one and I’ll never go back. Very sturdy and chops up the meat better than the plastic ones.
Works well in my cast iron pans. Very sturdy.
