Well made and well thought out set if you are looking for a larger capacity lunch system
Our family has been trying to move from plastic containers to stainless as much as possible, and this was one of the first lunch box sets that uses stainless containers that I really liked the look of. I was also concerned with the size and capacity, and this definitely delivered on that front as well. I actually ordered it for my teenage son who is the one that started our family trend towards stainless and is now in an on-campus apartment in college. This has been great for him to take for long days on campus or at his job, since he has to come up with his own lunches for the first time after eating in the dorms the previous year. Sometimes he eats a ton, so I was happy to find this set since your every day bento box doesn't always do the job when it comes to how much food he likes to have with him over the course of a day. This is a tall set when it's all put together in the bag; the lunch box measures just over 9 inches tall. I know my son often just uses one of two of the containers and carries them in a smaller bag depending on what his day holds. Or, he uses just one or two of the containers and then there is also room in the bag for a larger sandwich or burrito or something that doesn't fit in the containers. So know you have options with this set, but it is definitely not compact or tiny when it is all together. The bag is insulated with the typical silver type material that tends to be used in lunch sets like this. I love that it comes with two ice packs, which fit easily in the roomy bag even when all three containers are in it. The set also has six little cocktail forks (also stainless) that it comes with. I can see using them with the set, or even keeping them separate and finding another use for them if you prefer traditional silverware, but it was a nice bonus feature that I wasn't expecting with this. Each container is divided into two sections, if you employ all three containers, you can fit both a wide variety and a large volume of different foods. So far we haven't had any issues with leaks, and all of the containers fit nicely into the bag (but there is still room for a little extra if you want to add your own silverware, napkin, sauce packets, or even an extra snack like a granola bar or bag of nuts. The bag itself also has some extra storage for items like these as it had elastic pockets on the sides. Both the containers and the box feel sturdy and well made, and I think this set will be plenty durable to last for a school year and probably throughout college and beyond, for that matter. Recommended if you're okay with some extra bulk to be able to take an impressive amount of food on the go.
