Excellent Quality

I'm a big fan of enameled cast iron kitchenware. That being said, this bread pan/dutch oven is one of the nicer pieces I've found. The quality is just as good as the higher priced, more well known brands of kitchenware that I own.The blue color is very pretty, and the enamel is solid all over (no chipping!). The lid fits securely on top. Even if I don't cook with the lid on, it will help hold in the heat while waiting to serve.I made a basic loaf of home made sandwich bread in this. The bread turned out perfect, with a beautiful golden brown crust. I could tell by the appearance of the crust that the pan heated evenly. I only lightly sprayed the interior, and the bread came out of the pan easily.This is described as a bread pan, but it could be used for much more than that. The size is perfect for roasting vegetables and smaller cuts of meat; you could even make casseroles in it. I wish I could give this more than five stars. It's a high quality piece of kitchenware that will last a lifetime.

Heirloom Quality Dutch Oven

I review a lot of products, and occasionally I receive a product that is truly exceptional. This is one of those products. When I picked up the Amazon box, I wasn't sure what was in it because it was so heavy. This is the heaviest Dutch oven I have in this size by a large margin. In addition to being well-made, it looks absolutely gorgeous! The size is perfect for a loaf of bread, so that gives you a very good idea of how much you can cook at once. For the first meal, I made white beans with lamb. It handled the oven without a hitch and produced a perfect meal. Cleanup was the same as for any other Dutch oven and didn't require anything extra. This is such a nice Dutch oven; I can see this being passed down through generations. I even think it is heavier than my Le Creuset, making this a better Dutch oven at a way better price. Don't hesitate to take a chance on this superb value in an heirloom Dutch oven.

Exceeds my expectations

I got the Vanderlume enameled cast iron Dutch oven for baking sourdough bread. This Dutch oven is beautiful! I love that it is practical and looks great, too. The handles on the lid and base are cast iron not plastic/nylon. The lid has a handle at each end. They tip up slightly. That makes is so much easier to lift when it's hot and you need to use potholders. The base also has sturdy handles on each end. The interior is smooth, white enamel. Although I got mine specifically for baking bread. It would work for roasting meats and veggies. I could make casseroles in it. It also holds heat a long time. So, food stays warm for longer than when using glass or stainless-steel. This Dutch oven is heavy, weighing over 13 pounds. With decent care to prevent chipping the enamel, this Dutch oven should last a lifetime of baking.

Beautiful piece of equipment

This is a very well made dutch oven/bread pan. The burnishing and colors on the outside are gorgeous, ad the inside is nicely smooth enameled. It's heavy and holds heat well, and the size is great for a loaf. We've enjoyed the breads out of it thus far and can't wait to give it other tasks, like frying and braising.

This is a beautiful, heavy oval bread, Dutch oven that you cannot only bake bread in, but you can bake anything you desire. This is a very heavy sturdy, beautiful Dutch oven pan that will last throughout the ages. I am enjoying baking various items such as bread, roast fish, and desserts in this Dutch oven.
