I bought this to help me made brownie bites without the mess. It does the job! You need to experiment to get a handle on knowing when to squeeze and let go on the handle & get the correct amount of batter in the pan. I’m sure it will be great for bigger jobs also.
If I had it to do over, I would buy a bigger container. It’s a pain to keep refilling it for cupcakes and larger amounts. It works well tho
The first thing I noticed was that all the accessories were kid-sized. Maybe that's who they're for but I found them to be pretty useless - unless you have tiny hands.The handle comes detached and I found it pretty difficult to fit into the very thin slot on the outside of the funnel but did eventually get it on there by using a tool to pry open the spacing a bit more to allow the handle to slide into the slot. I think I might have bent the thin metal of the handle in doing so but it still worked fine. The funnel itself was a thicker gauge metal and seemed sturdy enough.It comes with a few extra silicone pieces that fit on the outside/end of the funnel. I'm not really sure why the extra pieces are included since they are not going to wear out but perhaps people lose them because of their small size?I tested this out before putting it to work with just plain water to make sure the stopper actually worked and it did prevent any water from leaking through.I've never used one of these before but have seen them many times. I usually just use a measuring cup and dip it into the bowl of the batter and thought this would be less messy but it really wasn't.Batter still comes out the end when you set it to rest on the stand. It's not that it leaks, there's just some batter that gets left in the nozzle that eventually drips out onto the counter unless you put a plate or something under it to catch the mess.I also got my thumb a bit greasy while using this and found it extremely difficult to operate the button as it just wanted to slide off of it when trying to push down on it to release more batter so you definitely need to keep your thumb dry. It would be nice to have a silicone thumb trigger to help prevent this.I'm going to stick with my old method since I saw no real advantage to using this other than it seems like it would be a fun little toy but in the end - that's all it really was. For those that like toys and gadgets to play with in the kitchen, you'll probably really like this. For those more practical, you may not see the value in this.
I was looking for a metered dispenser. This has a silicone plug at the bottom on a rod that lifts and drops to control dispensing. If that's what you're looking for great. Pancake batter dispenses fine with only minor leakage between uses (it was a thick batch).
