Didn't know what to think about a microwave "steamer" bowl. It seems to work just fine but I don’t know how much steaming is actually happening. The microwave is cooking the veggies at the same time the microwave is cooking them and heating up the water to "steam" so I don't get the effectiveness of the steam feature. The steam produced makes the inside of my microwave wet (which gives me a good time to clean the interior of my mic) but the actual steaming is lost on me. I would rather use the vessel with a little water without the steam tray to just kinda boil my veg. The bowl is cute and has a great design. The lid fits poorly and is almost a misfit for the bowl. It cooks jut fine and is sturdy enough to keep your food from spilling out. Washes up well in the dishwasher and looks cute as a serving dish. It's okay but a regular bowl with some saran wrap will do the same job.

Some minor flaws but works very well.
This silicone microwave steamer has a good-sized compartment and takes the worry out of microwave splatters. I steamed sweet potatoes in it, and they were perfect. It also only takes a moment to clean it, and I feel good about the non-toxic material. It's an attractive item, shaped to look like a casserole dish, which is a nice touch. (Note: The website lists it as "round," which is incorrect. The shape is oval.)It's very easy to use, except for the vent hole. To learn about it, I had to go to the website and "ask Rufus." Unfortunately, even then, the instructions were unclear. Because the veggies came out very well, it's not a major issue; however, for anyone who really likes to cook, this is a frustrating flaw. The other flaw is that the cover isn't a perfect fit to the container-it's just a little off. While the material and shape look solid, the mismatched cover needs improvement.Because of the minor issues described above, I only gave it 4 stars. That said, this is a very useful product that makes microwave cooking much easier.

If you are what you eat, as the expression goes, I’m a cookie. At least lately as winter months really did nose dive my quality of food choices. In summer, I constantly use a gas grill because of its ease of use and easy cleanup, so fresh meat and vegetables are on the daily menu.I ordered this to help make better winter meals, and it’s been working!The first thing I made were fresh whole carrots, which are so time consuming on or in stove and just shrivel up normally in the microwave. This bowl resolved those issues, thoroughly cooked carrots, fast! Finished off with a little honey, butter and fresh dill…these were fabulous!Then I tried cooking fresh shrimp, adding garlic and spices to the steam water and in just a couple minutes had perfectly cooked flavorful shrimp.The size works nicely in my relatively small microwave, does not get caught on anything when rotating. The only negative is that the top seems to sit on top more so than lock on so it’s somewhat loose. But still stayed put.Handles work great for heat protection.Also great, cleanup was easy and it did not retain any odor that I could detect.AND, it’s cute! Has an homage to vintage design and colors that I really love.So, this is a very positive step forward for me and my nutrition game; Delicious health food, fast and easy!Very nice product!

This dish is nice looking, made of thick, quality silicone. One thing to point out is the lid is a slightly different size or shape, so it doesn't fit perfectly - but it's not a big deal. It is fairly large, when considering what a full serving bowl of steamed food would be in here. One of the big advantages here is the ability to steam dumplings easily!

Great idea but lid is lacking
This silicone steamer bowl is probably one of the smallest that I've seen. I'm not saying that is a bad thing it just cannot hold a lot of food we like to steam such as broccoli. I liked how the nested part of the steamer keeps the food out of the water while steaming and that the silicon material will not absorb odors or introduce flavors into the food. That said, the weakest part of the steamer is the lid. It won't stay on and is very flimsy. It has a nice adjustable steam release valve but with the walls and lid not being solid enough that feature is not worth it. Overall this is a solid 3/5 stars for the reasons mentioned here.

Handles feels kinda hot at 2 min
While I was still able to remove this silicone bowl with it's handle, personally I feel it may be hot for some. I know my mom would definitely state it was too hot for her. I do like all the features of this steamer though. It does work well, did a great job steaming corn. It's pretty lightweight and easy to use. You know, I never thought I'd ever live to use a silicone-made microwavable steamer that's even dishwasher safe.
