Good for shaking flour, etc.
I ordered these shakers to use for shaking flour (when I'm getting ready to knead or roll out dough on the counter, e.g. bench flour) as well as semolina (for keeping pizza dough from sticking to the pizza peel), and they work well for that purpose. I could see these being used for cinnamon sugar, BBQ rubs, etc. as long as whatever you're shaking will fit through the holes in the top of the shaker.The holes on the top of the shakers are about 2mm in diameter, so you don't get a true fine dusting like you would with a sieve or a shaker with a finer mesh/screen top. That means they perhaps aren't as well suited for putting the finishing touch of a dusting of powdered sugar on a dessert before presenting it.The plastic lids for the shakers fit well--snug enough that you don't have to worry about them falling off, but not so tight that they're difficult to remove. The screw-on shaker tops, which you remove to fill the shaker--screw on and off easily as well but remain secure in use. The bigger shaker has plenty of storage for bench flour for even a fairly prolific baker.They are light in weight thanks to the thin metal, but still plenty sturdy. With the shaker top off, you can distort the cylindrical shape of the shaker bottom, but it takes a good bit of intentional pressure. And since they're made from stainless steel, they're dishwasher safe.
