Good non-plastic option for most cooking tasks
This spatula is smooth, sturdy and comfortable to use.It's made with one continuous piece of wood, so there's no glue.To prep it for first time use, I washed it with soap and water, then rubbed it with fractionated coconut oil and let it sit for a couple of hours, to protect the wood.The spatula is great for basic cooking tasks which require mostly stirring, with some flipping, like scrambling eggs or making stir fry.It has a difficult time flipping flat food items neatly, like omelettes, fried eggs, or pancakes. It's a challenge to get it underneath, without tearing or distorting the flat food, because of the direction of the edge bevel (flat on top, beveled on the bottom).Had it been flat on the bottom and beveled on top, I think it would work better.I'll keep looking for a wooden spatula that can capably handle the flipping task.Still, I like it and it's nice to have a spatula that doesn't put microplastics in my food and isn't metal, which can easily scratch ceramic and other non-stick coatings.

A nice alternative to plastic or nylon in the kitchen
These two turners are about 1/4" thick, so are sturdier than some kitchen utensils. The wood looks nice. Mine do not match each other like the ones pictured; one is considerably lighter, but variation in wood is to be expected.They are sanded so smoothly that they almost seem to have a finish, but they are bare wood. The turner length is about 13", a nice length. For some reason the slotted turner is about 1" shorter. I would have preferred to have it also be 1" longer. There is a slight angled slant to the base and the blade edge is beveled, making them both easier to use with a skillet. The handles are comfortable to hold.Care is as expected with most wood: mild soap and water, air dry, occasional application of mineral oil.I fried an egg in a nonstick pan to compare the solid turner against a solid silicone spatula. The silicone spatula performed better when I tried to push the slightly runny egg white toward the yolk in the the pan. The wooden spatula left small traces of egg behind that the silicone spatula easily picked up. Towards the end, the egg stuck just a little, and I felt like the silicone was a little easier on the pan surface when pressure had to be applied. I rarely fry eggs, however, so this wasn't a deal breaker for me. I would expect the wooden spatula to do very well sautéing fish or vegetables, or even making scrambled eggs that don't need to keep their shape.I think these utensils are a nice alternative to plastic or nylon. I'm not ready to give up silicone, but I love wood and use it a lot in cooking, so these will have their place in my kitchen.

Resilient, Lovely Acacia Wood
I ordered this spatula set primarily because they are made of the lovely acacia wood. I had previously ordered an acacia cutting board that I’ve had for over a year now, and am so pleased that it is wonderfully enduring despite an abundance of use and washings.So I expect the same for this earth-friendly spatula set.They are beautifully made with a nice, thin beveled edge for easy flipping of eggs, omelettes, etc. and the smooth finish of the wood makes them very easy to slip underneath food.I do wish the handles were just a little longer, and the heads a mite wider.Super easy to clean in seconds, these spatulas are indeed a great addition to my cooking utensils, and I have no doubt that just like my cutting board, they will remain very durable. When it is time to replace them, it’s peace of mind to know the material will not contaminate the earth.

Beautiful woodgrain, smooth and easy to use
This acacia wood spatula has a beautiful woodgrain and is very smooth, definitely well made. Because acacia wood is very dense and strong, it is a particularly good choice for cooking; it is very unlikely to crack or break. I have been searching for alternatives to my existing black plastic utensils, given all the news stories about possible health hazards of certain black plastics (I can't remember when or where I bought mine), so wood seemed like a really good alternative for use with nonstick pots and pans: it does not scratch, and it is a natural product. The edge of this spatula is fine enough to slip under eggs and other items in a frying pan, but sturdy enough that there is no danger of it snapping off. The angle is just right for flipping pancakes and other items in a frypan. It has a hole at the end of the handle, which makes it easy to hang over the stove. Though wood should not be put into a dishwasher, it is easy enough to wash by hand. I am now considering replacing more of my plastic utensils with wooden ones. I have never used mineral oil on any of my wooden utensils, but I understand that this can help in maintaining the beauty of the item; I may try this at some point in the future, but I do not see it as essential.
