A Quality Pot That Feels Unfinished
A Quality Pot That Feels UnfinishedI’ve been using this pot for about a week now. It has worked very well with cooking soup. From the looks of it, I believe this pot was machine finished on a lathe, which gives it a precise and quality finish. It also has a good amount of weight to it although it is not as heavy as a cast iron pot’s weight, it is not as light as an all aluminum pot. The handles and lid are also well built and feel solid. While using this pot, I also compared it to a similarly sized Viking pot.Pros: stainless steel and aluminum construction, machined finish, quality handles and lid. The apple inspired design is a nice theme and creative. Clean up both by dishwasher and by hand has been good and without issues although there is some discoloration that will occur which is normal (also happens with other pots).Cons: There are no markings stamped on the pot indicating the pot’s volume, cleaning method, company name, nor place of manufacture (the manufacturer does state it can be washed by dishwasher on Amazon). Thus, the pot feels almost unfinished. Being a quality made pot I do not understand why the manufacturer did not put their company’s name or mark on it. That being said, there is a printed company name on the lid (including the word “Italy” next to it—but with years of use, I’m sure the print mark will fade).Overall, it seems that this pot was designed to compete at a higher category as an affordable alternative to cookware such as Viking. I believe this pot is a good value and has performed well. However, it does fall short of feeling like a product that the manufacturer was proud of making—my impression was the manufacturer was too embarrassed to mark the pot as a Chinese made product and thus tried to use the name of “Italy” instead. That’s sad because this is a quality pot and the reputation of a country like China could be improved with more quality products such as this one.Despite these criticisms, for the price (about ½ price of other similar pots) it is still a good pot and I continue to look forward to cooking regularly with it in the future.
