Caution these are definitely not unfinished they are dyed brown any mark will show blond wood underneath the finished is real shellac and will melt instantly with alcohol

Protect my desk from hot cups

Maybe the cup on images are way too small, which made me feel like this is a big coasters, but not big deal, I still can use it on the regular size mugs.These square wooden coasters looks in good quality wood, and thick enough to prevent heat transfer to the bottom, provide good protection for my desk. little adhesive non-slip dots are very useful, make me no worry on mugs slip away from me.50 PC are more than enough to use for the rest of my life time, Hooray!

FINISHED Wood Coasters - But Not Suitable for Any Crafts I Can Think Of...

These are advertised on the product page as unfinished blank coasters, suitable for painting, etc. - however they have quite a thick, somewhat uneven glossy finish on them that just won't hold paint. If you want plain brown coasters, just stick the feet on these and they're good to go. If you want to adhere something to them, it might work IF you have the right kind of adhesive - it will need to stick to the glossy finish, and nothing I've tried works; it just doesn't harden appropriately.Burning might work, but it might be difficult to get your pattern correct, as I can see the uneven finish burning unevenly. Honestly, I'd recommend leaving them as they are. Trying to add your own design might be tough. You might try sanding them, that's what I plan to do - I don't hold out a lot of hope because these aren't terribly thick, and the finish is VERY thick - and the wood underneath doesn't seem to be very good quality.I can't really argue the price - these are beautiful finished wood-grain appearing coasters and I'm sure a lot went into making them shine and you get a lot of them. They're just not suitable for crafts. Two stars.
