Super awesome flat-top induction cooker! 5000 watts of unadulterated heating power!

This is just a short placeholder review. Apologies for the crudeness. I'll polish it up later. Please ask questions if there are any concerns or curiosities. Thank you rating this helpful, if it is for you.I love this induction cooker! Our whole family have no issues using it. It boils water super fast, compared to 1800 watt models. If one wants restaurant quality grilling, sautéing, or searing, this is definitely a way to go. I highly recommend this for anyone that has or is willing to install a 220 volt 30 amp circuit. (I also purchased a 5000 watt wok cooker.)It's not without faults or quirks however. This unit does emit a strong chemical (cancerous?) smell whenever operating. The timer function is unrefined, and the feet are metallic and slippery. But for what it does, those quirks are minor issues.Pros:1. 5000 watts! What more needs to be said? It's powerful!2. Easy to use!3. 20 power settings between 400 to 5000 watts:400, 600, 800, 1000, 1200, 1400, 1600, 1800, 2000, 2200, 2400, 2600, 2800, 3000, 3300, 3600, 3900, 4200, 4500, & 5000.4. Many temperature settings are available as well, though I haven't used them at all.5. Timer settings adjustable between 1 minute to 3 hours.6. Unit was well packed for shipping and arrived in excellent condition.Cons:1. The spinning dial is not totally responsive. If one spins it too fast, it doesn't work properly. It needs to be spun medium speed (or slowly) to register each click (to change power or countdown timer settings).2. The metallic feet are sturdy and strong. But they are slippery on other smooth surfaces.3. The countdown timer function is a bit clunky. If one hits the timer button (even accidentally), it ALWAYS cancels the timer, or resets back to 10 minutes. Hitting the timer button should only toggle it to timer ADJUST mode rather than what it does now.4. There's a strong smell of 'cancer' when the unit is new. Proper ventilation is highly recommended whenever this cooktop is in use, especially in the first year. (The heated electronics emit a strong cancerous-plasticky odor when it's in use.)Other:It is 'Made in China'.Instructions are a bit sparse. But there's not much to it as it's pretty easy to use.Unit is a bit tall. We're considering purchasing a step stool so it's easier to cook with this.It requires a NEMA 6-20R receptacle (power outlet), which provides 220-240 volts, 20 Amps. When the unit is off, there's a red LED that's always blinking. When first powered on, unit defaults to 2000 watts of cooking power. The spinning knob is a little bit jiggly.

Excellent, powerful, some tips on the lower heat levels

I like the fast heat up time, no doubt, this is super-powerful. I like the solid feel of the machine, the twin fans, the large space underneath the machine and behind it so it can breathe and cool itself well. Top marks. So far, no issues with my high voltage in the apartment. I get 245 and even a little higher, which has blown up a couple of machines already, but this one seems like it can handle it, and the manufacturer says it can. So that's a big relief.I like the fact it has low settings to keep warm and to simmer. So often induction cookers can't to that well at all. BUT, you cannot go by the numbers on the machine to know the temperature in the pot itself at all. You have to experiment. If I put half an inch of water in a 10 inch skillet and set it at 60 temperature setting, I will get 165. If I add another half and inch of water, now I will get150. 150 for me is fine and it appears to hold to 150 ok, doesn't wander all over the place. This machine puts out a certain amount of energy for each setting on the dial, and your resulting temperature will depend on the pot, how much is in it, and possibly other factors, but it does not appear to sense the pot's temperature and then adjust its own power to maintain a certain actual temperature, though it does appear able to set its own power output stably, and that's good enough for me, since I use the same pots and amounts of food over and over, so I get used to it. It doesn't pulse high and low, just seems to put out a given energy constantly, and this is excellen compared to the up and down of the usual induction burner.I'd give the machine very high marks, and feel it will save me lots of time in cooking plus give me a better overall result. It is a bigger machine than usual, so you should measure your space. It's also higher than usual, so that may be something to consider. But if you can handle these things, this machine is worth the money and the bulk. One little niggle, the feet are metal and very polished smooth on the bottom so they don't scratch tables, etc. However, they can slide around a bit. I used some thin rubber padding, 4 little squares of it, one under each leg to help keep it from moving. Most machines have rubber feet, this one has solid metal, in other words, so it's probably aimed at commercial kitchens. It's worth working these things out to get this high level of performance. They have automatic one-year warranty, but I did not get any card or information about the warranty, who to call, or what to do should trouble arise after the Amazon 30 day returns. Maybe they can comment please on that?Bob Luhrs

Larger coil than expensive induction cooktops, good temperature control

It really does seem to have a 9.5 inch coil, which make the heat much more evenly distributed in my fry pans. It's great to be able to control what the maximum wattage is (so that I don't overload my kitchen circuits while using multiple appliances simultaneously), and the temperature gradation control has significantly improved my cooking results. I love being able to plug it in out on the patio if it's a fine day, also. Can't do that with a built in stove! The beeps are a bit loud for my taste - maybe they'd be more appreciated in a noisy restaurant kitchen. I like the thought that if it ever breaks down, it would be much easier and cheaper to replace than a built-in cooktop, or a cooktop-oven combination.

Aluminum pressure cooker will not work on this burner,

With an aluminum pressure cooker, it gives an E1 error. Material not compatible. I just went through the Amazon info, couldn’t find anything about aluminum not working. I spent 400$ on the pressure cooker so I’m disappointed there were no warnings about. The burner works well, good construction no complaints other than it won’t work with my Pressure cooker

Works ok but coil does not seem to be as large as advertised

The burner works ok, seems to be sturdy, heats up food fast enough. However, I was looking for a burner with a large coil. This burner seems to have a coil that is about 6in wide, not the advertised 9in. We tested with water and then flour. Both had the same results. I only bought it because I needed a large burner.
