Fits a a presto 01781-07 23-qt. pressure canner. Well Made.
received the item today, delivery took less than 24 hours.. came in a small zip lock bag, took it out and got my presto 01781-07 23-qt. pressure canner out and gave it a test to make sure it worked.. it worked just fine and it's well made. it's basically a bell type piece that fits on the steam spout with two removable rings each denoting 5 lbs of pressure. so no rings would be 5lbs, one ring, 10lbs, both rings, 15lbs. seemed fairly accurate according to my gauge.a little tad pricey maybe but it's quality made, fast delivery, and fits my two canners (I bought two), does exactly what it's supposed to do and will last forever unless I lose it.. so, a good investment if you need this.. actually took the time to write a review to confirm it fit a fairly common presto canner for everyone.

Wow! What a difference
I bought my Presto 23 qt canner this spring and found that the 15 lb pressure regulator that came with it required me to babysit it for the entire time that it was processing to keep it below 15 lbs and really could not maintain pressure at 10-11 lbs . Heat up, heat down, heat off etc. to drop the pressure then turn it back on just before it dropped to 11 lbs. I live below 300 ft sea level so that might be why but what a pain it was. So I bought this one that is adjustable for 5 10 and 15 lbs pressure and it works perfectly at maintaining the 10-11 lbs pressure that I need. If you are finding it hard to maintain the required pressure I highly recommend this weight. Perhaps Presto will recognize this problem and just supply people with the adjustable weight in the first place.

Amazing!
I am new to pressure canning, and my husband got me the 23 quart Presto pressure canner for our anniversary. I was having a difficult time with the pressure gauge and the regulator that came with it, so I replaced the factory regulator with this one and it has made canning EFFORTLESS! I felt confident with it the second time around and barely had to watch it. I was struggling to keep it at 10-11 psi needed for my elevation and recipes and with this it’s amazing!

Wish I'd Gotten It Sooner
So much more stable and reliable than the one that comes with the pressure canner. No more weird, unexplained fluctuations in pressure driving me crazy. I did call the canner company and give them the numbers on the side of my canner to confirm that my canner could safely use it before actually ordering. A little pricey, but far fewer siphoning problems, so I think it is worth the cost.

Use the Weight INSTEAD of the Gauge when Canning...
I bought this because I suspected the gauge on my Presto Canner was NOT accurate. I tested the Weight against the gauge and these were my results:WEIGHT at 5 pounds:GAUGE registered 9 pounds.RESULT: If I trust ONLY the gauge for a 5 pound reading, in reality, it will be reading 4 pounds lower, which would be only be at 1 pound of pressure - unacceptable for canning in the kill zone for bacteria.WEIGHT at 10 pounds:GAUGE registered 13 pounds.RESULT: If I trust ONLY the gauge for a 10 pound reading, in reality, it will be reading 3 pounds lower, which would only be at 7 pounds of pressure - unacceptable for canning in the kill zone for bacteria.WEIGHT at 15 pounds:GAUGE registered 17 pounds.RESULT: If I trust ONLY the gauge for a 15 pound reading, in reality, since it will be reading 2 pounds lower, this would really be at 13 pound of pressure - unacceptable for canning in the kill zone for bacteria. The gauge on my Presto Canner, just as I suspected was not accurate, which is what was causing my jars to be sealed when I took them out of the canner - and a few months later the contents would go bad due to not high enough temperature in the jar. So...I ended up dumping out of lot of the stuff I canned (especially recipes with meat such as soup and chili), which was a lot of work and expense, for nothing. These are my results and may not be yours... but how will YOU be able to tell if your gauge is accurately showing you that you have the correct pressure to preserve your canned foods, safely?I'm glad I bought the weight.BONUS... I no longer have to babysit this canner watching the gauge for the full canning time to make sure the pressure doesn't drop. My jars seal perfectly and so far, they are staying perfect.
