This is my first tamper like this so I am not exactly an expert on them or the intricacies of them. However, it does seem to be doing a much better job than I was able to do with the factory provided tamper that came with my breville barista express. It definitely makes it stupid easy to evenly tamp the grounds in the portafilter.Seeing as I have no real way of measuring the pressure at which it is popping at I will say that it doesn’t exactly feel as though it is pressing with the 35lbs of pressure that I have it set to. But, that could be because I am not an expert as stated previously. Either way my machine is showing that it is reaching the correct pressure for extraction and the espresso tastes great so it’s definitely not doing a bad job by any means!This tamper looks great and is made well. It feels very sturdy and has a nice weight to it. The only bad thing I can say about it is that the detent or whatever it is feels and sounds very faint. So, you have to go slow and pay close attention to feel or hear the click that indicates you have tamped to the desired pressure. I personally don’t feel like I have pushed down hard enough to have pressed 35 lbs but again, not an expert here!

Quality, ease, sleek design
This spring loaded tamper is PERFECT! I used to use the tamper that cane with my breville machine but sometimes it would be uneven or i wouldn’t put enough pressure. Once I bought this tamper I don’t have to put much or any force to tamp with correct amount of pressure. Its consistent each time and my espresso comes out great. Definitely recommend this product.

THIS IS A REAL CALIBRATED TAMP. It has two sprung portions so you have a stabilized leveling collar, and a sprung handle to put sprung pressure on the puck. Very happy this is actually designed correctly, so many calibrated tamps are sprung collar only and that's pointless.

Great way to control your tampering. However wdt tool is more important than tamper. The coffee grinds get into the cover, so you need to clean it once in a while, but at this price point, it’s a high value product.

I bought another one and returned it after I saw this one. It is amazing. Heavy, feels firm pressing down the coffee grounds. Great value for the price.
