Great upgrade to my Breville tamper that was included. It feels VERY high quality, and delivers even and consistent pressure every time! I love this product and I am happy I upgraded from my basic tamper that came with my machine. Fits Breville barista express portafilter great!

I was thrown by the fact that initially the spring would pop once I applied maximum pressure. It stopped doing that. I think a few other reviews mention this. I don't know if this matters -- it still gets the job done.The handle is a bit wobbly, and I thought that that was the reason for the puck being uneven after tamping, even though I had leveled it before using the tamper. But then I discovered that there is an additional step before tamping. The wide ring above the tamping surface sits on the edge of the portafilter. If I put my thumbs and forefingers on top of that ring, and press down, I can ensure that the surface of the ring is sitting flat on the top of the portafilter. As long as it's sitting flat like that, the tamping operation results in a nice level puck.
That's a great espresso tamper. Well I sold my 51mm machine still wanted to leave a feedback. This is affordable and works great. I will order the 53.3mm for the new machine.

The spring seems a bit soft, yet the tamper portion in making contact - but the puck is not fully compressed. It seems like it should be because the collar should not stop movement of the tamper beyond the spring controlled force. I will give it more gusto next brew, if it does not fully compress it is going back. I am returning this tamper because it does not compress the whole puck
