The 54 mm Dosing Funnel for Breville Portafilters by Pletpet is a practical accessory designed to enhance your coffee-making experience. This funnel is specifically crafted to fit Breville portafilters, including the Barista Touch (BES880), Barista Pro (BES878), and Barista Express (BES870XL).
Nicely made and sturdy. I only use this to serve as a filling funnel and not to fit into a grinder slot, so I don't worry about how tightly the prongs fit on the portafilter (they fit really tight and would probably need some bending or filing to get it to screw on easily). I'm sure that the funnel and portafilter would also wear in together and work fine with some use. But this is still a very nice funnel and I'm sure it will outlive me!
The funnel doesn’t fit the portafilter: its teeth for attaching to the filter are machined about 1mm too tight to screw on. The asymmetric shape is funky, too, and not something I like compared to other funnels I’ve tried.

My Breville Barista Pro came with a dosing funnel, a plastic one that works just fine but does not compliment the machine or my other espresso tools. The funnel works as intended keeping the espresso grinds directed into the portafilter, cutting down on spilled coffee, keeping your space clean. Using a dosing funnel is an important addition to your espresso workstation because it allows you to fill the portafilter more evenly without spilling the coffee grinds. I believe it also helps to blend a richer brew.It is made from stainless steel which is about as good as it gets. I prefer a stainless steel funnel although I own other metal and plastic funnels. The stainless steel is far more resistant to scratches or degradation over time because it's a resilient and inert material that will not corrode.I also like that the funnels made of stainless steel to tight tolerances fit more tightly on the portafilters than most plastic ones that may be less expensive but I do not provide the tighter fit you get with stainless steel construction.Although not specifically called out this funnel can also work on the Breville Bambino and the Bambino Plus models which do not have an integrated grinder. But it's even more useful on the higher end machines that include a grinder.
