The machine feels well-built overall, but I smelt an overheating after a two minute run

The KabFbit 5L Electric Meat Grinder surprised me. At first glance, I assumed it was mostly cheap plastic, but that’s not the case. The mixing paddle and small spatula are plastic, yes, but they’re rigid and functional. The lid and motor casing are also plastic, as expected. The main mixing bowl, however, is polished stainless steel and feels solid. The cutting blades are stainless steel too, supported on a plastic stem.One oddity: the blades arrived with plastic sheaths. The instructions didn’t mention them, and I accidently left them on during the first run. The machine made its displeasure known—loudly. If these sheaths are meant for ongoing safety, it’s a clever idea, but they must be removed before use. Their open-slot design means fingers could slip through during reattachment, so caution is warranted.The instructions themselves are a mess. Some lines are printed overtop Chinese characters, making the English unreadable.And the warnings are poorly written English, and somewhat vague, but I suppose any adult should be able to get an idea of what the caution should be! I tried the international method of hand waving while I read the caution statements — and while I can’t say it helped, it didn’t hurt either.The motor’s top panel has embossed icons to indicate function modes: a glass with a straw (liquids), a paddle in a bowl (mixing), a long dash with two short dashes for different power levels, and a hand on a bar (dough mixing). All buttons are push-to-run, release-to-stop. There is no toggle on switch.The manual mentions a runtime limit but doesn’t explain why. A caution tag on the motor—thankfully in clear English—warns not to run for more than 5 seconds at a time. I ran it for two minutes without activating any automatic shut-off, but I did notice a faint smell of overheated electronics afterward. So yes, the warning is justified.The motor runs quietly, and the machine feels well-built overall. It handled pancake batter, eggs, and light fruit and vegetable chopping with ease. I haven’t tested it with meat or dough yet, but I suspect it’ll do fine with moderate batches. I don’t believe it is worth the cost requested, there are less expensive options available.
