Great addition to update my cutlery set.Nice weight and easy to clean and keep shiny.Works great with the new steak knives!
I picked up this set of forks because I wanted something with a bit more character than the usual stamped metal silverware. While the listing calls these "Bakelite," anyone who knows old materials can tell pretty quickly that they are actually a modern plastic resin. That said, I’m still giving them five stars because they look fantastic and have that heavy, substantial feel in your hand that you just don't get with cheap modern sets. The design is really what makes them stand out. They are super easy to hold onto and they have that retro, estate-sale vibe that fits in perfectly with a more traditional kitchen setup. The stainless steel part of the fork is polished well and feels sturdy, not like it’s going to bend the first time you try to eat a steak. They’ve quickly become the "good forks" that people reach for first in the drawer.Maintenance has been a breeze so far. I’ve been running them through the dishwasher despite my initial hesitation about the handles, and they’ve held up perfectly. No fading on the black finish and no spotting on the steel. They seem like they can handle the daily grind of a busy kitchen without needing to be babied, which is always a win in my book.Even though the material isn't strictly as advertised, the quality and the look are definitely there for the price point. They feel durable, they look high-end on the table, and they have a nice weight to them. If you’re after that specific vintage aesthetic but want something you can actually throw in the dishwasher, these are a solid choice.
These forks have a distinct vintage-inspired design that immediately stood out to me and actually convinced me to pick up the matching spoons and butter knives to complete the set. The bakelite-style handles paired with stainless steel give them a warm, classic look that adds character to my kitchenware without feeling gimmicky. In the hand, they’re noticeably more comfortable than my previous all-stainless set, which had sharper edges and didn’t feel great during longer meals. The grip is smooth, ergonomic, and well-finished, and after multiple dishwasher cycles, the handles haven’t faded or discolored at all. The stainless steel tines feel solid, clean easily, and don’t retain stains or odors. Also the weight and size feel just right. They easily fit into my existing cutlery drawer organizing trays. They pick up food of different sizes and textures just fine and feel smooth and clean when taking a bite. That said, the weight distribution is a little different from what I’m used to. They’re not as evenly balanced as the traditional stainless forks I previously used, so if part of the fork is hanging over the edge of a small bowl or plate, it can tip over more easily. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s something you’ll notice if you’re sensitive to balance. Aesthetically, though, they more than make up for it, they bring a subtle retro charm that elevates everyday meals. For the price, the materials, comfort, and overall build quality offer excellent value, and once you adjust to the balance, they’re easy to live with. If you’re looking for something that feels different from standard flatware while still being practical and dishwasher safe, this set is a solid choice.
SIX STARSThese forks have exactly the kind of retro presence I was hoping for! The black handles give them a kind of vintage, estate-sale look and they feel heavy in the hand- far removed from flimsy, stamped flatware. The handles are smooth and really comfortable to hold, and the stainless steel has a highly polished finish. They are on the large side, which is worth knowing going in. I tend to prefer smaller utensils, so these feel oversized for me personally, but that comes down to preference rather than quality; my 21-year-old son now prefers these larger ones.Dishwasher use is supposed to be fine, though the listing hedges toward careful washing; I think that kind of caution is sensible if you want the black finish to stay pristine over years, which I do. The weight and finish hold up well through regular hand washing, though, and the black handles have stayed looking sharp so far. If you like silverware with character and don’t mind a generously sized fork, this set is perfect for you!
I like the look of these spoons. They definitely look vintage with the black bakelite handle, but they are HUGE. They are larger than what I would consider a tablespoon and do not fit in my mouth, so unfortunately I won't be using them. But I'm picky about spoons - I prefer them small and often use an espresso spoon to eat. Most people won't be as picky as I am.The instructions say they're dishwasher safe, but then they also say they're better hand-washed. The black color on the handle is attractive. The quality is good and they have a good weight. They're just not suitable for my little mouth ;-)
These are really nicely made spoons but they're so BIG! I guess what I'm looking for is technically a teaspoon (not to be confused with an iced tea spoon - which is where I think I'm getting confused). Though the listing doesn't really label the size of these spoons, after some googling, I think they would be considered tablespoons? Whatever they are they ar too big for my mouth for everyday usage. (I feel like I should list my size/height and weight here or something, but I'm a normal person - lol) But these really are nice spoons! They seem very sturdy and worth the $20, however I would return them if I could just based on the size.
