Great for making bread
Good quality bowl for sourdough. The bottom is slightly wobbly but not a huge issue. Love the tight lid!.
Love, the size is perfect for many things I make. Finally not worried my bowl isn't big enough.
I wish there were a way to rate the items that make up this product separately. Then I would have rated them this way:- The glass bowl would get 5 stars- The lid would get 3 stars- The salad utensils would get 3 starsThe glass bowl is perfect for my intended purposes, which are, in order, mixing ingredients, preparing bread or pizza dough, and tossing and serving large quantities of salad. Its size is just right. Glass is my preferred material for each of these uses. Glass lets me make sure that ingredients are mixed thoroughly and evenly, see how well dough is progressing through a rise, and present a colorful salad to its maximum advantage. Glass is easier to to clean and quicker to dry than plastic, doesn't stain, and doesn't scratch as easily. Of course, with glass there's the possibility of breakage. The glass that makes up this bowl is quite thick. I expect this bowl will stand up very well to normal use in my kitchen. The lid is another story. At room temperature (about 68F/20C) it is very stiff, which makes it difficult to remove, even when pulling up at its tab. While I have every reason to expect that it will securely remain on the bowl once you have put it in place, it is definitely not watertight. It leaks very easily if tipped or turned on its side. This is something to bear in mind when considering transporting wet ingredients in the bowl. The salad utensils are attractive and, according to the product description here on Amazon, are made of acacia wood. The finish on the wood is not clearly specified. The Q&A section on the Amazon product page says "The included acacia wooden salad servers have a natural, smooth finish that is food-safe and typically oil-treated for durability. They are not coated with synthetic materials or finishes." Call me ultra-cautious, but the word "typically" makes me wonder. I would want to know more about the finish before using the utensils. The bottom line: This is a great bowl for my purposes, but I'll use a different lid when covering it and different utensils when serving from it.
What I love:The size. This bowl is BIG. The perfect size for mixing, marinating, tossing giant salads, or storing a whole mess of leftovers. It’s become a go-to in my kitchen. The lid: It is airtight without being annoying to use, and not an obnoxious color so it never looks out of place.Bowl weight: The weight and thickness are right up there with old pyrex and overall just feels super durable.Bonus points for the included utensils: I didn't think I'd ever use them but they’re pretty and feel like solid quality, not cheap throw-ins. I use them almost daily.Everything’s held up great in the dishwasher so far. Between the versatility and the solid build, this bowl set is absolutely worth it and priced comparitively with other options.
