Wish I had thought of these things sooner.
Can't ask for much more out of a storage solution for food prep.If it can be made at home for less than store bought, sign me up. My wife and I make a lot of our own sauces, condiments, large portion sides/salads, brines/bases/stocks that may need to be cooled after making, and host many dinners where larger quantities need to be prepped. We always just tried to make due with the dishes we had which often turned out to be rather difficult or we'd have something spread out across three bowls of varying sizes. One of these was a batch of giardiniera that usually yields about 2 gallons, it fills a full dozen 20oz Ball jars with a little leftover. After several years of this, I finally started to look into food prep containers and even after the first use of these I'm glad I did. These worked perfect for splitting a batch in half between mild and spicy and made my life so much easier during prep and storage prior to canning.Giardiniera has a thicker "liquid" component so the only amount of liquid-tight seal testing this saw was the occasional shake with a liquid that wasn't likely to leak anyway, so jury is still out on that. Although reviewing the listing only mentions air-tight, not liquid-tight. Probably will find out more when we go to corn our brisket for St. Patrick's day. That said, the seal feels good; there is a nice, distinct "snap" when you seal the lid to the container.Storage-wise they stack within each other so a stack of four of them doesn't take up much more room than one of them. Side note: didn't need the scoops, but happily one was conveniently repurposed as an ice scoop allowing us to get rid of the metal one that would start to freeze your hand if you needed to hold it longer than 15 seconds.I have one word of caution, but it doesn't bother me much so I'm still rating it five stars. These are advertised with care instructions including dishwasher safe. The containers may be dishwasher safe, however the gradation on one side is colored with a metallic paint/coloring that did not hold up to our dishwasher -see picture showing a still "new" one next to one that has been through the dishwasher once. Again, this doesn't really bother me. The etched gradation marks are still there and I will have very seldom use for them anyway.
