So to be fair. I realized I do not like Matcha. So I did try this a few times and worked great, but gave a star less because the whisk did not appear to keep up the sturdiness for long. It does have a holder to help keep its shape though. For those who like Matcha, this is a decent set for the price. The color was very nice. It is also aesthetically pleasing.

Lovely and functional

The photos were really accurate, in terms of colour/finish. I got the "matcha green" version. I've been using it over the past week to test it out, and so far, the bowl has withstood the dishwasher/microwave just fine. It hasn't scratched from anything even though I've stacked the holder in the bowl to carry it about a few times, and the finish hasn't seemed to pick up any stains so far, even though it is matte on the outside.As far as ease of use goes, even for a relative novice, it has been simple enough. It's hard to complicate making tea. The chawan/tea bowl is a good size to hold, sturdy without being uncomfortably heavy, and the matte finish/natural texture of the glazing makes it easier to keep a grip on it when I'm moving it from place to place, which was a concern of mine, since I didn't want to break it, and some bowls are slippery. The chasen/whisk and its holder have also worked very well, as has the sifter. The tea towel has an interesting texture to it. Very sturdy, too.In terms of packaging, it was VERY secure. So secure that I actually had a smidge of difficulty prying out the scoop! There was firm but squishy foam to support all of the breakables, and the chasen came in a little plastic cylinder to protect the delicate bits. It was a compact and aesthetically appealing box custom fit to its contents, though it makes me wish I knew Japanese, because it didn't have a lot of English on it.Speaking of languages, if you don't speak Japanese, don't worry. The little sheet inside comes with translated English instructions which work just fine.All in all, this set is a lovely thing, and it would make a great gift if you have tea fans in the family.

Giftable set in a very nice color

I ordered the cobalt blue set and couldn't be happier with it. The color is deep and matches the other cobalt blue accents in my house.It arrived in a nice box that looks like it's straight from Japan. All of the pieces were packaged very securely with foam cut-outs, and I enjoyed pulling them out one at a time to see everything that came with the set.The bowl & whisk holder are a nice weight - not too heavy but not lightweight either. The exterior texture is nice to look at and definitely has a handmade feeling to it. The inside of the bowl isn't overly smooth but isn't overly textured, which is exactly what you want when whisking matcha. The whisk (chasen) is put together well and doesn't look or feel cheap.I'm very pleased with this set and really enjoy both displaying it and using it.
