Good for much more than cutting cookies!
The moment I spotted these stainless steel “cookie cutters” on Amazon I thought of a dozen ways to use them. The price was approximately $8 for the set when I placed my order, but (of course) the price is now reduced to $6. For a set of 6 cutters, this price is a great bargain. This set is surprisingly very well made. I find them to be quite sturdy. The folded/reinforced top edge protects hands & fingers when pressing into dough, and gives them structural strength to prevent bending easily. I was extra careful while washing them before use, as the cutting edge feels pretty sharp. For this review I decided to use the largest cutter as an omelet/egg ring. I brushed butter inside the ring & my pan, and placed the ring in my pan with the cutter edge facing up (to prevent damage to my Calphalon non-stick pan). I whipped up eggs with spinach, ham, onions, feta, sliced cherry tomatoes, and chopped artichoke. The ring held approximately 1/2 cup of the mixture. I placed a lid on the sautée pan, crossed my fingers, and let the modified omelet cook through. It turned out perfectly! My husband had his fancy round “omelet” on a bagel. Over breakfast we brainstormed about all the ways we could use the rings for other recipes… and unbelievably, none of our ideas involved cookies! The ring washed up beautifully after use with a microfiber rag and soapy dishwater.Overall, this is a sturdy & versatile set of quality stainless steel pastry/cookie cutters. I recommend trying a set, and see where your cooking imagination takes you! For the current price of $6, they would be a perfect gift to tuck in the Christmas stocking of adventurous cooks in your family. 5 Stars! Highly recommended.
