When all you want is a sharpener for different size knifes, this is it. Big enough to fit on the counter for stability but small enough for the standard kitchen drawer. Does a good without damaging the knifes.
I like that it has 6 different settings for sharpening different types of edges. It's easy to use and safely keeps your fingers away from the business end while sharpening. It removes a lot of the guess work as far as what angles to use like would have to do with sharpening stones. It's compact enough to keep in a nearby kitchen drawer. This is a really cool design. Highly recommend this one.
I am a female disabled person. I minored in silversmithing in college and one class was on how to make and maintain your tools which taught me how to properly use an oil or water sharpening stones (as appropriate to tool and its metal) for our tools. You need to be a bit gentle so as to not remove too much of the metal of the tool being sharpened, but it sharpens well at correct angles but different tool types. It the perfect size, and had excellent stability and design. Its is much less likely to mis-draw or cut yourself which is always a risk sharpening metal....I mean you are sharpening the edge LOL!Excellent tool but really poor directions. I have had something like this when I was a child that my dad was teaching me how to use before he would consider letting me use his sharpening stone (a foot powered old school wheel stone the size of a bicycle wheel). You also need a hone of the edge to maximize sharpness without removing too much of the metal to get a good edge without shortening the lifespan of the tool, but that something you generally have to be taught by someone like my dad who grew up on a working farm where nothing was wasted or replaced if it could be fixed. If nothing else always use a gently hand and it might take longer to use but nothing will be damaged with any sharpening tool or stone.
This 6-stage knife sharpener is easy to use and covers all the basics, from scissors to chef knives. I appreciate the labeled slots and ergonomic grip—it’s very beginner-friendly. It brought my dull knives back to life in just a few passes. The bright orange color makes it easy to spot in a drawer, too.
works ok for knives but i have to say that im less than impressed with the scissor sharpener...... it isnt good for that honestly..... there are much better options for both knives and scissors.... i already have a really really good knife sharpener and got this for the scissor sharpening alone..... and it leaves a lot to be desired
I have used this sharpener on a couple of kitchen knives that I usually sharpen with the sharpener that came with the set, and I have to say that they come out sharper with less effort. It is a pretty simple setup and is high quality. It's small enough to take camping, or chuck it in a drawer to maintain a sharp knife. It's not the cheapest sharpener, but the simple design and end result make this a good choice.
