This is the best berry box I have owned. It will keep berries, even strawberries fresh for over two weeks.It's not hard to close in my opinion. It can be hard to open because the seal is so tight but it works so well. I feel the heavy seal is the cause.
This container works perfectly for raspberries and blueberries (haven't tried other types); keeps them fresh and nearly eliminates spoilage. Only drawback is the tight seal and weak lid closers (2 have broken at the hinge). Still, a great product and will be even better when stronger latches are installed.
This holds almost two of the double sized containers of raspberries. I pick out any mushy ones and rinse and dry them as much as I can before putting them in the draining part. I can see that liquid drains to the bottom but below the insert so the berries aren’t sitting in it. It’s tricky to put the lid on and remove it. There’s an art to it that my kid mastered, so I think it just takes a little patience and practice, and it gives it a good seal. I’m happy we bought it because otherwise raspberries don’t seem to last more than a few days in the containers they come in.
Like so many others, I have trouble closing and locking the lid. Yes, I have watched the how-to video. Wish I’d checked sooner, but I missed return by a few days.
I cannot even believe they are selling this. I originally bought an OXO Produce Keeper at an offline store on a whim cuz I was there and I had been wanting produce storage with a drainage colinder. Then I noticed how flimsy the OXO produce basket was and that food would get caught and that the top had no clasps. I returned it and then found this product on Amazon. Clearly this basket is high quality smooth and sturdy plastic with feet to raise produce above the water. You can pull it up from the center. The outside container seems good too. Then I tried to open it. That was very difficult. But then I tried closing it. That was impossible. The ONLY way I was able to close the 4 clasps was to turn the container upside down so I could force the clasps over the lip. Even that was hard. They need to design and build a product that you can open and close easily, but which will stay on well. It seems to be difficult to close because the side walls of the container cave in as you try to close it and the clasp function is defective. I really need produce storage with drainage so I went offline to test products. I saw products offline that I see on Amazon and most have the same issue with the clasps not closing, or they have a lid that just sits on top and cannot be clasped shut. You may be fine with that but I want storage that can be sealed. Then I found a great product offline but the brand is not listed on Amazon. love these containers. I'm able to keep watermelon longer. works great for lettuce and vegetables too. the snap on handles are a little tricky to learn but I'm a much older women with little hand strength and I manage them just fine. they are nice thick containers that a think will last a long time. The size is perfect and the containers are very sturdy.
Works great for storing our sprouts. Would be great for berries also.
