Scrapes the Bowl So I Don’t Have To — My Mixer Just Leveled Up
This flex edge beater is basically a stand mixer’s equivalent of finally hiring an assistant who actually does the job. No more pausing to scrape down the bowl with a spatula like a 1950s baking peasant. Doesn’t fit the stated mixer.
This is a review of the “6QT Stainless Steel Flex Edge Beater for KitchenAid Mixer Professional 6 & 7Quart, Paddle Attachment for Kitchen Aid Accessories KD2661X, KP2671X with Silicone Edges Scraper, Dishwasher Safe.”As you can see from the title of the listing, this is supposed to fit a 7qt Kitchenaid mixing bowl. It does not. (Our mixer is specifically named in the description.)Such a shame. It appears to be made well of actual stainless steel (but not NSF certified), although the tolerance on the shaft interface is a bit too tight. It barely goes on without a lot of “coaxing.” No matter, if the mixer shaft isn’t lined up so the beater edge doesn’t touch the bowl, you’ll never get it on anyway. The flex edge is WAY too wide for even a large 7qt bowl, yet too shallow to reach the bottom. I didn’t dare try to run the mixer with this paddle attached, fearing it might damage the motor or gears.Returned.

Best paddler attachment I found so far
It works amazing but the edges do eventually rip off at the top, as they rub too much on the side of the bowl. You might be able to minimize that by trimming the top of the edges with scissors. (I’m trying that with my second one, we’ll see. The first one lasted a year though, so I’m happy.)Even with that issue, it’s still the best stainless steel beater I’ve found for my mixer, and I have tried a lot of them.

Not sturdy.
This worked very well on my 6 quart Kitchenaid the first three times I used it. But the forth time, the silicone wipers began to crack lengthwise where they meet the stainless body. I’ll try it one more time, but I think it will just tear off. The design of the wipers would have been better if they got thicker as they approached the inside. The way they’re designed, there is a sharp angle and that’s a stress point, and where they’re tearing. It’s very disappointing as when they were new they worked very well. That’s why three stars, or I would have given it one.
