I purchased these for home family holiday meals and for my group when we have potlucks banquet style. They are easy to open and close, colorful, easy to serve the food and good quality. In past I purchased cheap plastic at Dollar store but they broke constantly when serving - a waste of money and very frustrating to guests. But these are keepers - till someone likes them so much they walk away with them.
I just bought all new pans that require non-metal cooking utensils. These utensils are fantastic. There are three different sizes that allow me to manipulate the food in my pans with ease. I have been able to use them to cook various foods like fajitas, pancakes, and I’m even able to flip egg with them. They are sturdy, easy to clean and your kitchen needs.
The product is easy to use, durable, good for handling fried food and salads.
I have had a red 9 inch set of tongs like the ones in this set for about 5 years that I use daily. One day I was using them to hold hot food I was cutting and accidentally cut a piece off of it. I was so upset about this, but kept it anyway because I used it so much. I also have a 7 inch set of tongs like these that came with a set of pressure cooker tools, At first, I didn't think I would use it much, but, boy, was I wrong.When I discovered this set on Amazon, I had to have it. Since these tongs are silicone, they are extremely easy to clean, and absolutely nothing sticks to them. You can remove the silicone ends so nothing can get stuck between the handle and the silicone holder that holds the food. The locking device on all of them works extremely well and keeps them closed for storage. I also very much like that they are BPA and PVC free so I don't have to worry about them contaminating my food, and they are safe to use in my non-stick pans without scratching them.I generally use the 9" tongs for turning foods such as steaks, pork chops, chicken, etc. when baking or frying or air frying them. They are also great for moving strained noodles to plates for serving. The 7" tongs work wonderfully for personal servings on the table. When I server dinner, I most often put foods on the table that each person can take what they want. The smaller tongs aren't cumbersome at the table, and can be used to self-serve foods such as salad, asparagus, and any other foods that don't work well using a fork or spoon.Although I do use both sizes of these tongs often, I do not recommend using them to move or turn large pieces of meat such as roasts you are searing in a pressure cooker or pot. Since the silicone is slippery, it can't hold onto heavy pieces of meat. For this purpose, I have a set of rigid tongs with teeth. Even though I have this new set of tongs, I can't bring myself to dispose of the one I cut with a knife. I think we have bonded. :)UPDATE 12/19/20:I have had this set of tongs for over 8 months, and I am still finding new uses for the smaller ones. One of my favorite uses is for self-serving leafy veggie greens, such as chard, spinach, collard greens, etc., at the table. I used to used a slotted spoon, but the greens generally fell of the spoon or hung over it. With the small set of tongs, it is so much easier to grab a personal serving. The larger ones work great for turning and serving chicken pieces, pork chops, steaks, and other smaller pieces of meat.I hope this review was helpful for you.
I needed to replace the tongs that I inherited from my mother. They would no longer close and took up too much space in my drawer. I loved the bright colors of these and needed some larger & smaller tongs. These tongs are really nice. Close nicely with no problems.
I ordered these while my son who is the chief cook at their home. He was using an old pair of dilapidated tongues that came apart every Time he use them. This purchase was received well and greatly appreciated. They weren’t great and the different sizes and colors were nice. They close nicely to be stored and stay closed and they come out of the dishwasher looking like new. I would definitely buy these again.
When it comes to kitchen tongs, I like to think of them like to go cups. It's hard to find a perfect to go cup because there's always some gimmick. The same thing goes for silicone tongs. There's a good assortment and the colors look nice. They are easy enough to clean. Best part if one of them breaks you have four more!
