I like it. No rust in the first two weeks.

I paid $19.24 for it. The price is now up to $25. (USA$$)It came very sharp and has a super thin edge. It appears to be painted...much like most of the knives you buy now a days. Well made, full tang. Looking at the paint job it appears to be a three layer hot forged sandwhich.I havn't tried to sharpen it yet, but I have had it for a few weeks now and I have left it in the sink and it hasn't rusted.I was wondering what Chineese super steel would be then I rembered ball bearings. (It is recycled ball bearings?) If that is what they did that is a really excellent choice of steel for a knife. It being a kitchen knife it is a really nice kitchen knife even at $25.Edit: I sharpened it and I could see why it is a budget steel. It is a rather difficult steel to sharpen. To simplify, the steel is too hard for my natual stone so Cbn/diamond is about the only way. The steel just doesn't want to ever get to a super fine edge. However it doesn't mind being adequetly sharp.A lot of that may just be that I use a Stainless steel stropping compound instead of an actual finishing stone. So, after quite a bit of effort I gave up.I can't really say there is anything wrong with that...VG10 is rather close to 440c..hence it's a good kitchen knife...it hasn't rusted. Usually a better heat treat solves 440c's grain problem but I'm only goofing around with how sharp I could get it. But, don't expect your usual whetstone to make much progress.

pretty cool looking knife, good & sharp

let me begin by saying this is an awesomely handsome knife. the wood on the handle feels comfortable in the hand & the blade design, well its apparent it's not the Damascus folds that should create a legit pattern, but it's kinda cool to look at.However I found there to be a manufacturing flaw on one side of the blade, there is what appears as a small cluster of dimples in the finish. Its not near the cutting edge so hopefully not a problem, only cosmetic 🤞.It has a very sharp edge that cuts & chops very well especially after putting a fresh edge on itI don't think I've used it long enough to tell how it will hold a nice sharp edge. But, so far so good, but time will tell.

A Beautiful Damascus Knife!

Love it. Sharp, elegant, beautiful and feels great in the hand. What’s more awesome than real Damascus steel?! Very fair price for a quality knife! Love it!

Very nicely made quality knife

The core layer, that really matters functionally, is made from a high-carbon stainless steel. This layer is the only one exposed at the cutting edge. It should do a credible job in actual uses. The remaining outer layers only add visual appeal, and they certainly do.Multi-layered "damascus" steel once required days of forging work by skilled artisans to produce. It is apparent that has been transformed into a controlled automated manufacturing process. The result is this beautiful functional piece being sold at very reasonable price.

Great knife, but fake Damascus.

It has a great cutting edge and seams to be made with care. But on the other hand, To someone who hasn’t had several Damascus knives they probably couldn’t tell that this is not real Damascus. It is an etched design onto the side that looks like Damascus. I’m kinda pissed because I was wanting to get my dad an authentic Japanese Damascus knife, but I was fooled by the advertising. I recommend buying something else.
