Very good, but not great

This is a very good knife, though not (in my opinion) a great one. The knife is well made with a blade that has a Damascus-steel look to it. It appears to have been forged with a full tang. The polypropylene handle has a subtle wood grain to it, which adds to its appearance. I like the grind on the blade, which goes from its V-ground edge smoothly back to the knife's spine. That is, there is not an overly-thick spine on the blade, which means that slicing vegetables is easier and smoother, though the trade-off is that the knife is less suited to heavy-duty chopping tasks.So why have I given this knife four (and not five) stars? The main reason is because I do not like the design of the blade. I prefer holding a chef's knife with my thumb and forefinger on the blade and my middle finger against the bolster or blade, but with the cut-away at the end of the blade, when my middle finger is pressed against it, my thumb and forefinger are not in as comfortable a position as I'd like. A secondary reason is that the knife is advertised as being "super sharp." It is sharp out of its package (it does shave hair from my arm), but it left razor burn from a blade that needs some honing. It is sharp, but not "super sharp." And speaking of "sharp," although the knife is advertised as being dishwasher safe, I would never put a sharp knife into the dishwasher. The edge could get knocked around and dinged, and even if it is put in a safe place on a rack, the abrasives in the dishwasher detergent (necessary to get food off of dirty dishes) will dull the edge over time. I always hand wash my good knives.To conclude, this is a very good knife. It's well made and sharp. But its balance is not ideal for me, and so for me this is not a great knife.

A hidden gem!!!

I can't find anything that I don't like about this knife. I'm sure the price is crazy low because it's not made with alloys reserved for cutlery with higher price tags. Except for fancy packaging it looks like a $100 chef knife! It's almost impossible to tell the difference from one of my expensive chef knives. It's a knife you can use everyday and not worry about nicks and dings. Sharpen on anything and not worry about it. Use outdoors for anything. When it's no longer useful for food, I'll use it in the workshop or garage.
