The plastic that they are made of is to brittle for putting in the freezer and shatter when dropped.
These plastic storage tubs are a bit basic on the thickness of the tubs and the lids. They are just the right size for freezing the blocks of ice I need for my Kitchen Aid Mixer Attachment. These containers compare to the thickness and quality of the value brand of plastic storage containers at the local super store. The thickness of the plastic is a concern when it comes to durability of these containers long term. The biggest plus in my opinion, is that there are 8 little tubs. The lids fit well and they will stack in the freezer when needed. These 8 tubs also stack very neatly in a minimal amount of space for storage when empty. The number of tubs when all frozen and ready to use, it gives me enough for two large ( 12 oz foam cups ) or 3 small ( 8 oz ) snow cones. I can also freeze multiple batches - the ice is easy to remove from the tubs based on their shape and flexibility.By placing the ice pucks from the containers onto a cookie sheet with parchment paper for an hour or more before adding the blocks to a zip top bag. This ensures the blocks freeze completely and don’t stick together once bagged. This allows me to have enough ice to have for a family snow cone party. I do have to be cautious as my mixer can overheat if used too much for too long. Overall an easy process and a reasonable value in my opinion.
I got these to use with my commercial shaved ice machine. To get a good shaved ice, you need a chunk of ice to shave. If the ice block is not big enough, the shave ice doesn't come out fluffy. These are a perfect fit. These are the ideal size for fluffy ice. They are very easy to fill and they are stackable. The containers are durable and sturdy. The ice is easy to remove from the containers after allowing them to sit out for a minute or two. After hunting and trying other containers to achieve the perfect size, I was very glad to find these and happily paid $20 for them. For me, it is a great value.
